Mrs. Claus was especially good to me this year. Check out all my goodies:
Zero Gravity Double Bubble in Dark Smoke. Note the oversize black windshield bolts.
PSR "Dagger" levers, Buell Traction Grips, and cheapo bar-ends.
Pegasus passenger heel guards in chrome (they were out of black). As previously posted in a different thread, I also got a carbon airbox off of ebay, but it's shit and I'm sending it back. I also got the Buell airbox buckle guard in brushed aluminum (sick of the leatherette mask), but I'm waiting to decide what I'm doing with the airbox before I install it. What did you guys get? |

Hey, bike looks great. Do you notice a big difference with the double bubble? Looking to possibly put one on my 09 R |

Oldog: I got to say, you win (for now) . Dosmie: I went back and forth for quite a while between the Double Bubble and the SR (Stock Replacement) which is in fact about 1.5 inches taller than the OEM windshield. I also debated between Dark Smoke or Light Smoke. Here are my findings after about a week: Size: I preferred the looks of the SR slightly and still do. The difference between the SR and OEM is more subtle, but the DB isn't the sore thumb that I was afraid it might be. The difference is most noticeable from the "inside" (i.e. from the rider's seat), and I'm getting used to it quickly. Although I consider wind protection on the R to be pretty good in all but the strongest wind (even sitting upright), the DB is noticeably better; also, when I tuck in I'm actually fully behind the windshield (I could never quite manage that before). Color: I definitely prefer the looks of the Dark Smoke and IMO, the illusion of an unbroken expanse of black is greatly enhanced by replacing the bolts with black ones. However, when tucked, the view is VERY MUCH darkened --- not too bad with just my Dark Smoke helmet visor, but I did swap out the lenses in my shades for clear ones. Three layers of dark glass was almost opaque. I'm very happy with the thing, both visually and functionally. For someone who prefers the shorter SR model in Light Smoke though, I would recommend saving a few bucks (like $30) by choosing the Kick Ash model from Buell. |

I second the functional improvement of the 2x bubble. Highway cruising is now amazingly smooth with the zero g screen. Worth every penny! |

Great looks is usually about attention to detail ... Swapping the bolts to black makes that new combo 'better than factory' clean. Nicely done! Mike |

Marco, I guess I need a PM too, since you don't want to give away your source out loud on those sweet heel guards. My jaw hit the desk. Those levers are interesting as well. Have you got a shot of the full length of them? I love the screen ,I think you've made up my mind for me on that one. |

PM sent. It's not that I don't want to "give up my source." It's that I'm trying to comply with the BadWeB policy on advertising. I got the piece from a non-sponsor and don't want to provide a link or otherwise market a product in violation of our host's wishes. I'm happy to share contact info via PM, and it's not really all that hard to find for someone who spends any time at all on online auctions . . . As for the levers, the manufacturer's website has some pretty good pics. I would google "psr dagger levers." I would NOT buy direct from the manufacturer, though, since you can find them elsewhere for 20% less or better. And the more I use the windscreen, the more I like it. It is far and away better than the stocker --- which, as I wrote above, I think is pretty good . . . (Message edited by MarcoDeSade on January 05, 2010) |
