I recently bought a 2000 M2 and was curious to see what size jets were in the carb. Upon disassembly I found that my carb has a Thunderslide kit in it and has #48 slow and a #155 main jet. The 155 sounds small by reading other posts about jetting but I have found nothing on Thunderslide jetting. I spoke to a rep at Dyno jet and he said that was probably right due to the efficiency of the kit. If you have the kit what size jets are you running? I'm running a D&D exhaust and CF race filter. |

I have a T-Slide with 45 slow and 185 main. I had a 200 in there before I added material to my stock Lightning heads (shrink ported). I think it's lean on the bottom and top so I might go to a 48/195. You probably need a larger main. If it runs better with the choke partially out, need bigger jets. If worse you are close. Google CV 40 jetting or CV 40 tuning or Sportster Carb tuning/jetting. Lots of info. You can also search the KV here |

I also have a T-slide kit. I run a 45 slow and am currently running a DJ200 main. The 200 main is probably too big for me, but a 190 resulted in knocking at full throttle in high gear. I have a stock exhaust with a Forcewinder intake FWIW. Seems to me that most people here run somewhere between a 190 and a 200 main jet on mostly stock engines. You may have to try a few sizes to get it right, and then once that's done, you'll probably have to adjust the needle height to eliminate the Keihin cough. |

Can't seem to find any jets locally. Looks like I will have to order some from Dynojet. Thanks for the info. |

I second Crackhead's response. See if you can't get some off of the mechanics or service department at a local HD shop. I bought mine from Dynojet at a cost of $2/each, which wasn't horrible, but then I had to pay like $10 for S&H!!! |

AFAIK the jets are the same as any ol' CV40 jet, unless the emulsion tube has been changed. You can tell if the tube has been changed because the DJ kit has a bunch of holes in it, in all directions, and has a hex head on it where the main jet goes in so you can remove/reinstall the tube. The stock tube has 2 flats on it for removal and only has a couple of holes up top for fuel to enter the intake stream. The only thing it changes is the threading on the jet. Once you figure what size(s) you want, you should be able to get them over the counter at just about any shop. I know we have a couple of old tacklebox-looking things that have jets galore in 'em. My (thunderstorm) S2 runs a 45/190 combo with stock header (2" collector) and Buell race muffler. My S1W with race header and muffler (2.5" collector) and the same engine likes a 48/190. I just took Kim's (stock muffler and airbox) M2L apart, which runs great but had a gunk problem from sitting, and it has 48/190 as well (courtesy of Hal's at some point earlier in its life, before we got it). I'm leaving it because I'm putting it back together with a race aircleaner, and once she gets better at riding and does it more I may put on an old SS2R I have laying around... With the D&D...I'd leave the 48, get a 190, 195, and 200 (take your main with you so you can match the threads). Go 2.5 turns out on the idle mix screw, put in new plugs, run the 190 (that'd be my bet anyway) for a couple miles alternating between cruise and WFO, and read the plugs to see where that puts you. White is lean; black is rich; tannish is just right. Salt and pepper pieces mean you're detonating, which is lean and/or too much timing. If the first jet isn't right...clean the plugs off, change jets, and try again |

I just paid $10 for a main jet at a local shop. If you're buying more than one thing, J&P Cycles has them for $3.00 each, and a good assortment of sizes. The shipping would seem like a lot, unless you're buying a few other things too. |
