Dyna, If I, You or any of us (including Blastrider) signs on the doted line and pays good money to an insurance company, then they (the insurance company) has entered into a contract. A contract is binding and thus requires that They pay if covered service is required. If not then they are in breach of contract. So why the hard-on for the kid. He shows more maturity than 50% of the idiots that get their first bike at around 22 yoa, then ride like idiots without helmets, in shorts and tank top, and worse yet in thong shoes. Who is costing us (the responsible motorcycle rider) they are. Let's cut this kid a break. BTW, I bought my first bike at age 12, and have done so every since. Blastrider, Come visit us in the Thumper section of this site. We would love to have you in our part of this world. Ray |

i called the sherrifs office Had you concerned enough to make the call tho didnt I? Look its not about you having a bike & riding it, thats great that you have the enthusiasm & want to ride. I am more concerned about the age factor, I have raised 4 kids of my own & 14 yr olds dont always have the best judgement. Its one thing to screw up in school or in a video game, but screw up on a bike & its your life as well as those who may be around you that is affected. If you are going to ride at least be legal about it, attend an msf course or 2 & wear the proper safety gear at all times. |

well i'm not saying we are always the best for decisions but like i said i ride with my dad so if i did anything stupid my dad would sell me bike and i have worked to hard for it. I won't be riding with out him for a while (untill i am legal) i've already taken riders edge and anothe MSF coarse. those your 4 kids and apparently they turned out great but my dad has raised a few also and no dis respect but he knows the risk he is taking |

Dynaryder: He already stated; "i have taken a MSF coarse and thats how i got my license" In my opinion ya should walk away and leave it alone. You're blinded to what's being said by your own prejudices/experiences. You had a rationale opinion and a firm stance. Respectable enough ... but the more it goes on, the more you're letting it drag ya down. Admit he may be the exception. BuellBlastRider: Don't let it get to you. ...and don't forget to sprell check. and don't forget to sprell check LOL. It wouldnt hurt him or anyone of us to take a 2nd msf course. You would be suprised how much you either forget or take for granted. I retook it a while back & have also attended the advanced course as well as the one dealing with hauling passengers. |

It’s clear most of you think I’m a fascist for suggesting that motorcycle riders should have proper licenses and insurance ( and no, Buellblastrider can not have insurance. No insurance company in the country would write a policy for an unlicensed rider. If his father has insurance, it almost certainly won’t cover unlicensed drivers.), so I’m going to make one final point and get out of here. Some of you have mentioned MSF courses, well my comments come directly from the basic MSF course I took 22 years ago. I hate rules. I’ve always hated being told what to do, but my MSF instructor was the first person who convinced me there are times when respect for the rules is critical. As close as I can remember, he said something like the following: “You’re going to learn two things in here: how to handle a bike and rules. When you leave here, the thing that will keep you alive is 99% rules and 1% experience. We’ll play around in the parking lot, and you’ll learn some things about handling a bike, but your experience is shit. If you think you know enough that you don’t need to follow the rules, you’re an idiot, and you’ll probably end up a dead idiot. I’ve been riding for 20 years, and I’ve maybe gotten to the point of 50/50 rules/experience. I’ve got a long way to go.” Now for those of you who want to tell Buellblastrider that it’s cool to ignore the most basic rules of the road, go ahead. You’re free to do so. Personally I think it’s irresponsible for experienced riders to tell beginners “rules are for pussies”. Buellblastrider, I’m not trying to tell you what to do, and I’m sure you’re more responsible than most 14 year olds, but you’ve got a lot to learn. I’m not saying I’m smarter than you, but, after 22 years, I haven’t learned nearly everything there is to learn. You’re going to crash. I’m sure nearly everyone on this board has gone down at least once. I’ve crashed twice. The first time, I was 18, my bike was completely mangled, and while I was across the street calling my dad, an ambulance showed up to collect "the kid who killed himself on a motorcycle" (I was completely thrilled to be able to use the line: "I'm not dead yet" ) .If you read through the archives of this board, you’ll see many, many mentions of friends who have died on motorcycles. It’s probably the most fun thing you’ll do with your pants on, but it’s probably also the most dangerous. If you hurt yourself or someone else before you have a valid license, your father’s going to be in a lot of trouble. I don’t know the laws in Tennessee, but I’d say there’s a good chance he could go to jail. Have fun! And I’ll try not to ruin anyone else’s fun from now on.

"It’s clear most of you think ..." Carefull there Elvis, the term "most" implies a majority, and if "most" of the subscribers to this site here had chimed in then this thread would be at least 10,000 comments longer. Please revise "most" to either "many" or "several". Thank you. And as far as "I’ll try not to ruin anyone else’s fun from now on" goes, feel free to speak your opinion and allow others to speak their's. Now, with that said, and with a screen name like "Elvis", if you've got any comments or thoughts on guitars then please feel free to speak them in my thread on guitars on the quick board. Thanks.

Ever hear the saying "it's not WHAT you say, but HOW you say it" !!?? No one is telling anyone ignore rules (and there are exceptions to rules!), but not all are being preachy, sarcastic or nasty !! How about being helpful instead of getting into a pissing contest with him !? It appears you weren't trying to be quite as nasty this time, but some don't even make an effort !! I believe a person can tell when someone is trying to be genuinely helpful, and when they just want be an A$$ and be right about something !! CJM |

CJ, I think you meant to type ASS. You should spell check. I am an instructor with the local authority on bike training and when my kids are old enough they will be taking the course despite the fact they all know how to ride and have been riding since they were old enough to understand what brakes were. Oh yeah my kids are now aged 4,5,7 & 11. Only last night I realized (when I was outside painting some railings) I can not leave the doors open on the garage anymore because the 7yr old discovered he can now kick start his sisters Yamaha 80cc bike. He was thrilled about it. I would encourage Buell Blast Rider to continue to learn and ride safely. Be sure to OBEY the rules of the road and most of all watch out for others. I can not comment on the laws surrounding younger drivers from where he is from so he would have to carefully check if can even ride on a public road and if he can be insured. In some instances up here people under 16 can get permission to operate from their insurers. As I have indicated in previoius posts it varies from State to State and Province to Province so before going out on the road and pleading ignorant check with the local authorities. The MSF Course also teaches a lot of valuable information especially to new operators. The one that have never thrown a leg over a bike in their lives are the ones that benefit the most and also the easiest to instruct as they have no bad habits. Just this past weekend a guy in his mid 50s came up to me and told me that he would have never imagined he would be riding a bike after only a few hours of instruction. |

CJM, I'm sorry if you thought my posts were preachy, sarcastic and nasty. I didn't intend them that way. I basically had two points: The Tennessee law seemed fair to me. I wasn't congratulating Buellblastrider for breaking that law. If there are any words or phrases in my posts that you found offensive, please let me know what they were, and I can try to explain what I was trying to say. I know I said I'd shut up, but your post led me to believe an apology was in order.

"Can I have that guitar? You can keep the vest." Yeah, his music is definitely better than his taste in clothes. Sorry I couldn't help you on the Epiphone. I've got a fairly generic Gibson and a fairly generic Fender bass. When I buy something I just walk in the store, close my eyes, hold out my wallet, and tell them to take whatever they need.

Elvis, sorry if you felt I was refering to you, I wasn't !! I just hate seeing supposedly mature adults threatning to call BuellBlastrider's hometown Sheriff's dept to report him & whining how much it cost them, not being kind or helpful in any way !! Didn't mean to sound preachy myself !! BBR's 14 and a fellow Bueller who started a Buell related thread to discuss his demo ride and it turns into a "why you shouldn't ride" thread !! What a sorry bunch we can all be sometimes !! CJM |

BuellBlastRider - come to the Dark side! A 720cc Nallinized Blast would embaress most of the twins on this board - and with half the hasles makes it the better deal in my eyes! So pop into the Thumper side and enjoy - leave these frivolous ones behind and learn to hop that puppy up beyond mortal ken (at least you'll find the latest hot cam set up;0))! I know you - Got Thump!? Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Sorry EZ but i'm not going to dump all the money in my blasy bust instead buy the 9S. if i had a ton of money i would because i think it would be neat to have a blast like that. dyna i appreciate the last post and agree with most of it. Elvis, CJ just wants to get in a pissing contest with me & thats fine if thats the direction she chooses to go. Obviously she has not read all of my comments directed at our lil 14 yr old friend. I gave him some advice to wear proper gear & attend another msf course or 2 but obviously someone has her panties in a bunch today. Maybe I should start a thread on why middle aged milwaukee area women women shouldnt be on bikes. |

Dyna et al. I think a little perspective is needed here. BuellBlastRtider has only deviated from the law in one as I can see it area. He attended an MSF course, He obtained an license although restricted. he rides with his father which satisfies the restricted license. The only thing that I can see after following this thread is that his license only covers a 125cc bike. The "Stock" Buell Blast is marketed as a beginners bike, has only a anemic 26-27 RWHP and isn't very intimidating in stock form. The law's intent is to keep inexperienced riders off high-powered crotch-rockets. The Blast is in no way in stock form high-powered. As for insurance he can pay for his insurance under his Dad's name in most states. What seems to be the problem. Again he shows alot of maturity for his age even if he can't spell, Hell, I can't spell at age 42 without a dictionary or spell check. I still contend that he is showing more maturity than most of the 18-22 year olds that I see riding everyday. Again, sometimes we have to give people the benefit of the doubt, and try not to judge them with prejudice in regards to race, religion, beliefs, or age. Dyna, grow some skin, CMJ has said nothing that that I see that should start a pissing contest. Remove the burr fromm under your saddle, get a life and ride. Life is way too short to take everything as serious as you seem to. Ray
