I hated those fasteners, I got them out with Vice grips and replaced them with run of the mill Allen bolts. |

I did just take off the rock box cover and when I was taking the 4 allen bolts out it kinda went "pop"... strange? There is some bur action happening next to O2 sensor. It kinda makes me want to use a little RTV on it when I put it back together. I'll post a pick when I get it taken apart.... I'm sure H-D will want to know there is a problem during the assembly process...... oh yeah....... Hey Vern.... never mind.... Merry CHRISTmas! |

Mark- given your repeat failures, I think it'd be well worth checking to make sure all the parts of your covers are dead flat as long as you're in there. The trick of using emery cloth on a glass plate mentioned above should work well. Merry Christmas fellow Uly riders! |

Started putting it back together last night. Nice and slow. I don't think they took there time when it was put together at the factory. Some of the threads were a little jacked up and needed some attention. I'm going to change the plugs while I have the motor rotated. I have a set of the split "V" plugs that have been sitting on the shelf for about 3 years.... I don't think Buell even offers them anymore. But indexing them will be a lot easier... Gotta get every last drop of power out of it! |

I liked those split plugs on my City-X. It had a problem with cold fouling after I put the race kit on it, those cured it. |

I'm a dumba$$..... rotated the motor back up and then realized I had forgot to put the plugs in... DOH! No biggie, I had only put one bolt in, so it only took a few minutes for the redo. Now lets hope for no parts left on the shelf when I'm done. I changed the primary oil to Amsoil when I changed the clutch cable. It had purple oil in it.... Royal Purple? Whats that stuff like? |

FYI, I got my Uly back from the shop. According to the paperwork, it took the tech 2.5 hours of labor to fix this problem. With this being month 22 of 24, and only 2.5 hours of labor, I seriously doubt they smoothed out the rocker assembly head. My guess is that I'll be like Wolfridgerider and pulling/rotating the engine out within a couple of years. Wayne |

So far it has been very simple... It just takes time and the right tools. I have kinda enjoyed the whole process so far. I just wouldn't want to be doing it if I had to have it done by a certain time.... gotta have something to do in the winter. |

Wayne, being that it's warrantee it won't matter how long it took, HD pays 2.5 that will be what the paperwork will reflect. HAPPY NEW YEARS TO ALL!! ride safe and be heathy and prosperous ! Bob |

Have most or all leaking rockerbox issues been on '07 models? |
