I was wondering what my options were for bar end sliders. All the parts websites I've come across list there sliders specific to a given sportbike model, with none mentioning Buells. Or are they standard sized? Thanks! ~ J (Message edited by arcticcr on December 22, 2009) | ||

I use the ones that came with my CR, made for Buell. Mike P.s. - sorry couldn't resist... You realize those are plastic and will most likely disintegrate in a lay down. Mine broke when trying to remove them using vise grips. They are glued in there. | ||

I have personal experience where the stock bar ends did not hold up enough to protect the bar itself. On the right side, it wore through and the bar ended up scraped (wouldn't have mattered anyway since the bar bent). On the left side, the bar end just popped out and the bar ended up being ground down at about a 45 degree angle. | ||

The left bar end (stock) melted during my wreck. A real pain to chisel it out. I recommend getting better ones. | ||

Although I don't recall the name, I got a nice "universal" Delryn set at my local superstore for about $15. It come with 2 or 3 different bolts, and about a dozen different-sized spacers so you can really fit them to just about anything. I had to use the longest bolt and almost all the spacers to get the spreader to seat firmly enough not to let the thing wiggle, but I'm pretty happy with the results. | ||

West' - you got lucky. I not only burned away the useless plastic slider, but ground off the first inch-and-a-half of the clubman on a 90 MPH low side about a month ago. Damn near made it half-way up the grip. I also would be interested in a durable slider for the bars. ...and some thumb surgery. I went Shaolin warrior on the left signal/mirror on the way off. That's a stout casting, sheared it clean off with the web of my left hand between thumb and index. Took off for two weeks in Europe and only then realize that my hand was JACKED. On a positive note, these things are definitely built for crashing. 90 MPH down the pavement, basically off a cliff, airborne 30-40 ft, then buried in a muddy field and I rode it home. Cosmetic damage only, tore up twice in riding gear (ALL OF IT) than it cost me to put the bike back to showroom fresh. Amazing. | ||

I need these bar ends for a couple of reasons. 1. The bar end mirrors mount to the circumference of the handlebars. 2. They help to prevent damage to the handlebars during a crash. 3. The mass of the end caps helps to dampen the vibration. For all of these reasons, I’m going with the Rizoma P/N MA502B. | ||

I bought a generic knurled pair at the Metric shop. Inside each bar is 130 grams of #8 birdshot in a heavy ziplock bag. 1, 2 & 3 addressed for a little over 10 bucks.  Zack | ||

I have an "R" and I just bought a set of generic plugs for 7/8" bars. The place I got them had several colors and in knurled and smooth - 10 bucks. I saw no "size" options. Z | ||

You can get a pair of Throttlemeister left side bar weights and a mounting kit for a Buell. Fit them to both sides to reduce vibration and as sliders to protect the bike. The fit is perfect because they use the same mounting kits as the cruise controls, and they are pretty reasonably priced. |
