Henrik, trick to bleeding S-2 front brakes is to force fluid in from bleed screw on caliper and watch all the bubbles come out at master cylinder.I went through about a pint of fluid and an hour of trying the normal route. This method took about 5 minutes.I even tried one of those fancy vacuum pumps that suck the fluid out--no luck.

That's good to know. How does it compare with Suzuki, KTM and Kenworth?

FMJ; that's exactly what I did (did you read my thesis on brake bleeding?). If the brake system is empty it's almost impos)5{rom the top down. The syringe/pressure feed from bottom method is the only way to do that quickly. Now someone is actually selling a $25 syringe for brake bleeding - I should demand royalties :)

However, since the front master on the S2 is angled so the banjo/bolt is higher than the two little holes inside the reservoir, the only way to get rid of all the air is to gently take the master/reservoir off the bar and angle it so the banjo is lower than the holes, and then work the brake lever a bit.

Also finished the seat and bent the kickstand as per Aaron. I'm looking forward to see what it did for the lean angle.

Either the RAN list is hiding, or I just can't find it. Forget Needles, Ca - is anyone near Limon, Co?
Thanks, Josh

jm, I'll let you know, the trick is going to be finding the part.
My dad was broke down in Needles, Ca on his way to the start of the "Run to the Wall" ride - with a broken primary belt. Now he's broke down in Limon (that's an improvement, right?) Something that happened when they replaced the belt caused the front sprocket to strip its splines. So now he needs a new front sprocket (I think, I haven't talked with him directly yet) and of course the tools to replace it. On a Sunday afternoon, bearing in mind most moto shops are closed on Mon.
If he gets going soon, he has a prayer of catching the Ride before they get to Wash DC (he's been playing catchup since Fri night when the belt was replaced).
Josh

Ok, he needs an aftermarket 45 tooth front sprocket that will take an 8mm belt. I'm working on an actual part #. If anyone knows a place that will be open on Mon in the Denver area that would have this please let me know. I guess he has the tools (the kid that towed him back to Limon is letting him borrow stuff) and we have plenty of family members in Denver to get the part and drive it out to him, we just need the part.
Thanks,
Josh

Josh:
LaFore's Motorcycle shop is open 7 days a week. 155 S. Sheridan Blvd, Lakewood, CO 303-239-8317. Mostly a chopper shop, but they have a lot of aftermarket stuff. Could be worth a shot.

Speaking of RAN ... I'll be heading out from NYC on Friday morning. Taking I78 to I81 south and cut across to Wilkesboro NC. From there BRP and backroads to Columbus NC on Saturday.

I have a few modifications that I'm hoping will hold up - but just in case, if anyone along that route would be willing to give a helping hand, phone calls, local shop info etc. please shoot me a mail with phone numbers and ways to get in touch with you.

Thanks
Henrik

You must be logged in to see and access the RAN page. Here's the tricky part... click on "Log Out" at the top right of the page to log in. Sorry for the confusion.

Ok I'll be calling all over Denver tomorrow morning for a MidUSA # 77028 (kit) or #77324 (pully from kit). If you have one in your back pocket (and are in Denver - MidUSA is here in St Louis so I can get him one by Tues easy) please let me know. Thanks :)

Unfortunately Court I have ridden neither Suzi, Kenworth, or a KTM.
But maybe a Kenwort is just my size

But that light really is very cool.
It actually made me think about rigging these up directly to the battery.
Mine is the 25 Watt High Performance Burner option a one off which they made custom for me, if you could get that kinda set up on the Buell that would be saaweeeeet .

Ode to EZ-Pass

A motorcyclist's ultimate bane
Is the greasy strip of the tollbooth lane;
In snowy slush or freezing rain,
To fish out coins is a royal pain.

Frustration, delay, oh woe! Alas!
But now I got my EZ-Pass!
It may be rude or a little crass,
At tollbooths now I hit the gas!

But wait, is something now amiss?
My recent trips lack joy and bliss;
I ride for hours upon the slab,
No people there, the scenery's drab;
Now and then I'd like so much,
A human hand to merely touch.

Of personal contact I am fond,
Like the outstretched palm of a platinum blond,
There used to be a human bond:
Now the camera winks, and I transpond.

I saw a little Aprilia 50cc two-stroke today. Looked kinda big for a 50, but had the GP look. Do bikes 50cc's and under not need to be registered? The guy had no tag. Pretty cool.

2-strokes continue to be slowly going into extinction. What a shame.

Boese...my little MTB light is brighter than the motorcycle, too. Amazing how bright those little suckers can get. Now I have two 12V 35W halogens on the Buell and they're still worse.

The fenders were a must. It used to be my primary ride through the winters up north. The salt was damn rough on chains...and the cold messed with the headlight electronics.

Stubby,
I don't exactly what you mean by "unloading" prior to shifting. I do know that fitting an air shifter with a momentary kill switch to an X1 works flawlessly. We did this on a drag bike in such a way that we were able to retain the stock shift linage. The cool part is that you can remove the wheelie bar and replace the strut with the shock and be back on the street in less than 30 minutes.

Blake,
Posting tech questions on the GD board before moving them to the KV makes a certain amount of sense. I for one don't spend the hour or more each day that it would take to sift through every subject in the KV and read each tech question. I know, "Its your party and you can whine if you want to..." but I though I'd throw in my 2 cents.

Greg;)

Ahh, fear not - I carry plenty of tools ... no shag carpet, mind you, but plenty of tools :)

I did the S2 kickstand bend today. The bike now leans perfectly and the strain is off the mount - the bike shouldn't roll forward anymore. But now the spring is too short to keep the kickstand up. Doesn't seem like I can re-drill and just move the spring further out on the kickstand either. The fun continues. Any suggestions other than bungie cords or straightening it out again (NOT).

Maybe you'd like to spend your time moving technical posts and their replies from this page to others? Cause I sure friggin don't!

Every try using the "New Messages" option in the Search Utility? It is the ONLY way to efficiently browse BadWeB.

Who is doing the whining? :/ I friggin' HATE whiners!

Jamokes.

At the local twisty road there is a stopping point about half way. You know, sodas, sportbikes, and the occasional flock of sheep on their hogs. Sunday, while standing chatting with some Beemer owners about 30+ hogs start up. Noise was deafening. You know the guys. Ugly sneer, no helmets, the wannabes with the "persona". The parking lot is sand, gravel, and dust mind you.

This one jamoke decides he's going to impress us sport bike types, decides the tour the lot blipping the throttle, rapping the pipes. You guessed it... you know what's about to happen... So there he is staring at us and sneering, blipping away, trying to feather the clutch to maintain momentum... spins up the back wheel in the gravel... feet go a-waggle... boom. Down he goes. EVERYONE in the lot starts laughing.

Picks up his noise maker and humbly exits the lot trying to catch up to the flock with what sounded like an exhaust leak.

What a hoot!
