Will this void the factory warranty if you do not use the ones from the dealer?

You do not HAVE to use Buell oil/filter products to maintain your warranty. The products you do use have to be at least up to the spec of the factory item.

I had a leaky exhaust valve guide seal on my '99M2. I switched to synthetic after break in and still was trying to get HD to cover the leak...long story.

The dealer said I voided the warranty because I wasn't using HD oil. I then reminded him of a federal law that requires the MFG to supply the oil for free if that was required to keep my bike in warranty. Where was my free oil?

The dealers would like you to think the products and services they sell are required for warranty coverage, but they are not.

No there is a law that says if the dealer requires you to use their product it must be given to you for free. I believe its the Magnisan Warranty Act. I think I have the spelling wrong. In fact I know I have the spelling wrong.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (P.L. 93-637) is a United States federal law (15 U.S.C. § 2301 et seq.). Enacted in 1975, it is the federal statute that governs warranties on consumer products.

The Act was sponsored by Senator Warren G. Magnuson of Washington and Congressman John E. Moss of California, both Democrats.

I have the hf564 filter in my ride right now after 300 miles no leaks. Even have the buna n type 141 o-ring not from buell box on the filter as well. No issues.

I got two HiFlo filters from a guy on Ebay for $21 shipped. Actually I didn't buy from him on Ebay, I found his auction for four and asked him how much for two. He gave me a better price since I bought directly through him without going through Ebay. So if you find the auction for four filters, email the guy and ask him how much for two and hopefully save a few bucks.

I bought from the same guy, but bought the 4 filters.... Still a good deal, my biggest concern is losing the filters before i get to use them, at my annual mileage rate it will be ..... oh 2015 before i get around to using them all.

$6.64/ea. from powersports superstore dot com. $5 more for like 200 o-rings shipped, I forget where from. Do a search on here. $35.95 for 4 shipped. Best deal going I think.

I should never try to go by memory. It was 50 Buna O-rings size 141 from McMaster-Carr. The size 141 have been measured by several badwebers and I can attest that they are the same as what came on the bike from the factory.
