the problem is oem narrow band o2 sensors are more like an on/ off switch. if you could hack the ecu to use a wideband o2 sensor then it could pick a racio and stay there, |

AFAIK, no one has found a way to change the target A/F ratio or change the idle speed setting. I still don't understand why you can't bias the O2 sensor's output so it's 14.1 when the ECM thinks it's 15.8. I am happy with the way Loretta runs now but would love to have an idle of 950-1150 rpm. The O2 sensor is only used for control in Closed Loop. Closed Loop is part power. Why on earth would you want to increase fuelling more than stoich at part power? If anything, you would want to reduce it for efficiency like you can on the front cylinder on the XBs. The secret to a smooth engine is to work the map in Closed Loop so the EGO correction is 100% (which will result in the AFV being 100%). The best way to set this up is to log data on the road. For power, you would map so the AFR is 14:1 in Open Loop and 13.2:1 or so at WOT as D_adams suggests. The O2 sensor is not used to control here. The best way to do this is on the dyno. |

what are the parameters that make the Buell ECU transition from open to closed? Usually it is only WOT or quick throttle twists were the ECU switches because everything is changing to quick for the ECU to adjust. Having the ECU adjust AFR based on throttle % would make sence increase MPG and increase power when needed. But it takes longer to tune because you have to dyno and various throttle %. The closed loop maps are what can be easy shared and should be relatively safe. If you ignore the O2 sensors then you just turned the expensive and heavy EFI system into a fancy Carb. What sensors does the 1125r have? crank timing, O2, cylinder temp, IAT, MAP, TPS (Message edited by crackhead on December 23, 2009) |

well the last beat sheets are done. they are in circulation avail freely. I emailed them to 6 of the sponsors here to test and share. ask around in there emails it clearly states they can share these files. Have fun with it. if it doesn't fit your bikes ecm its not hard to convert the sheet to another ecm. A few people that got them were Blake, Al as American Sport Bike, Terry, and others. for locating your bikes ecm data use ecmspy.com. They have the data locations posted for download. all coding if just standard excel click and pick files in the formula bar. There is not any fancy software files needed to make the data sheets. ask around your sponsors here to get a copy. |

Got it. Haven't opened it. No time. Don't appreciate you name dropping. Bad form. I don't endorse your work. It must stand on its own. I won't distribute it for you either. |

I was on that bulk e-mail as well. I'd never open the spreadsheet nor use it in my bike. Frankly . . for 99.9% of Buell owners tinkering with the ECM is asking for trouble. I know, that without the legal constraints the manufacturer built it under, that it can be improved. But I've no clue as to if this stuff is genius or garbage and, unless I am being paid, I'm no longer doing test riding. Shooting a bulk e-mail to a bunch of folks is neither acceptance nor endorsement. If you can get my name off that list I'd be grateful. Court |
