When my bike fell off the lift Saturday night the only thing that broke was the clutch lever. From reading on here many recommended the adjustable levers (CRG,Pazzo, etc). I was able to score a CRG shorty clutch lever for $69.00. Now I want to order (from American Sportbike) the brake lever. Would you get the shorty or the long? I know the long would give more leverage for stopping power. Your thoughts please. (Message edited by myzen on December 22, 2009) |

I prefer the shorties; they've been on since the day I got it 39,000 miles ago. |

I like the shorties...but I never use more than three fingers on a Buell front brake anyway |

I bought the long levers and wished I had gotten the shorties. |

I like my stockers, I have bent more than my share of levers, and still haven't spent enough to equal the cost of a pair of aftermarket ones. Plus my dealer keeps them in stock for me |

For what it is worth I also like the Shorties. I have them on my lightning, and in the spring will put them on the uly. The pazzo's work fine and are a great deal for the price. |

You could always use the stock lever/s and drill a hole about 1 3/4" to 2" from the ball end. If it breaks you then have a shorty and can get home. ********** Posted on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 - I had a tip over a few months back which though not immediately, eventually broke my brake lever. I bought replacements for both and drilled them to act as a weak point where they would break off but still give me enough lever to operate. I got some good help from this thread especially from Arcticktm and Mark_weiss. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/370135.html |

Yep, after having a stock front brake lever break off right AT the pivot - leaving me NO lever to get down a dirt road and 45 miles home - I started drilling my levers for breakaway. Like Froggy, I haven't started using aftermarket levers on the Uly yet. I run CRG stubbies on my S1W. |

In Virginia if the ball is broken off the lever your bike will not pass inspection. Jimmy |

How does everyone like the shorties on the clutch side? Is it a harder pull than stock or is the leverage different? Getting stuck in traffic on an XB can get painful! |

Billyo, My clutch isn't that tough to pull. What year is your bike. I like the shorty on the clutch side and brake side. |

05 Firebolt with muller power clutch and 09 XT which I haven't had long enough to get stuck in traffic. I know Buell changed the clutch diaphragms in 06. I keep the cables lubed but it seems like about once a year I get stuck in stop-and-go traffic. That's why I got the muller in the first place. So I got stuck in a big fire detour about five weeks ago on the 'bolt and was all cramped up. Next day I went out and bought a hand exerciser and now I sgueeze it a couple hundred times with each hand on my commute in the truck every day. At least i'm getting good muscle tone in my forearms. I don't mind the stock levers but my wife just got an 09 SCG and would like the adjustability of the CRGs but I wondered if it would be a harder clutch pull for her. |

Long. Clutch side is easier to ham-fist in stop-and-go traffic. On the brake side, a long lever sorta forces you to roll off when braking, giving you one less thing to worry about during emergency maneuvers. DAMHIK. -Nadz |

Hi I have the long Crg, and wouldn't change the for the shorties, i just need 1 or maximum 2 fingers for the brake, for the clutch i use 3, or 4 depending on the situation, i feel them much better than the original ones, the were well worth the money |

BTW, +1 on the Muller ball-and-ramp. Gives a larger friction zone, easier lever action, and generally makes the setup feel hydraulic. |

Get some Bark Busters if you're worried about breaking off levers. The "Storm" handguards for the Bark Busters are larger than the stockers too. |

Shorty's allow you to maintain better control in a difficult / quick response needed situation..two fingers on the clutch lever, two fingers still on the handlebars...never have to let go (Message edited by khelton on January 04, 2010) |
