I've recently tried to order parts from a couple different dealers (that are still backing Buells) only to be told that the parts (red XB12S flyscreen, airbox cover) were no longer available for purchase...they couldn't even order it. Fortunately, I got lucky and got one on ebay. It appears that Harley won't be providing support to current owners after all! Anyone else having problems getting parts? |

Give me the part numbers you tried to order. I am yet to find one I couldn't order. |

That's BS cause last week I ordered a red XB12S flyscreen from Manchester HD in NH. It's a 3 week turn around but so what, there's a foot of snow on the ground here. |

There has always been long lead times for body parts, and longer times for out of production colors, its nothing new. I asked what part numbers he is using, because it is possible its a discontinued number and I would give him the correct one. |

Wouldn't the local dealer know how to get the updated part number? Wouldn't the software at the dealer automatically suggest the updated part number? |

Usually yes, but the system isn't perfect. I am wondering if he is trying to order a certain version of an airbox and its showing up as unavailable, while another version with a different decal is still around. |

I have already gone into my local HD/Buell dealer and asked for a part only to be told that it didn't exist. I then produced a print out with the part number on it and they told me they were looking at an old parts list. Bunch of geniuses I tell ya. I wonder how much business they lost while someone was using a four year old parts list? Too funny. |

This is one of the reasons the brand didn't survive. HD Corp insists on selling them exclusively at HD dealers and those dealers could care less. They are not interested in supporting anything but their HD base and Buell is something totally alien to them and draws in "the wrong crowd," ironically. If they sold Buells at stand alone dealers, or allowed dealers of other brands to also sell Buells, perhaps they'd have gotten better support at the dealer level. Just my opinion. |

You can feel free to send me the part number(s) as well, and I can run them on H-Dnet for backorder, supersession, or obsolescence. |

I just ordered the RSS (both the large, and small) from Racine HD, and got all three pcs. for 65 bucks. It will be in just after Christmas. The gal scored some brownie points for getting me bike parts for X-mas, and my B-day! |

At my local Buell/HD dealer the parts guys say that Buell parts are sort of tricky, sometimes a part number will change, or a part has been updated and redesigned but can still be used is available, but the parts book doesn't show the update. They say the make plenty of calls the the factory to get updated info. I have been told that there are no issues getting parts that will bring the bike back up for the last 10 model years. |

I ordered RSSs for mine and Wifeys bikes a month ago, 7 to 10 days and they were here. The test is on now for the page full of parts she needs after her low side. |

Here are the part #s I used: M2600.1ADMBK (flyscreen) M2224.4A8AMBK (intake cover) I tried Lake Shore Harley/Buell, Libertyville, IL and Old Glory Harley, Laurel, MD. With Lake Shore, I've been told before when they expected long delay before receiving a part, but this time they said they were no longer available for order. Old Glory also said they were no longer available. |

Probably what will happen is that one or two dealers will take an interest in Buell parts, and do 80% of the business. The typical parts guys will be very happy not to have to fool with Buell parts anymore, and will be even less helpful than in the past, and that is saying something. Unfortunately, all the accessories are being discontinued, and HD won't permit them to be made any more, so get them now if you need them. My guess is that American Sport Bike will most likely become the main source for Buell parts in the future, as Al not only knows everything about Buells, he cares. |

Just glancing over those part numbers I can tell you that they are not production, they are the accessory bodywork without decals listed in the P&A catalog. I wondered if they were going to continue producing them, curious to see if its just Racing Red or all the colors are gone. You should be able to get the normal bodywork fine. |

I just told the parts guy at Manchester HD I needed a racing red flyscreen for my 04 lightning and he got it. I guess the flyscreens come in a couple different ways (w/ or w/o decals and there is some sort of "kit") I would just have them get the part number rather than trying to give it to them. |

I'm with Froggy on this one. Racing Red, not being a "standard" XB-S color, is considered an accessory as opposed to a potential "warranty part". If it were Cherry Bomb Red...it would likely be a different story. |

Depending on the color, there is over half a dozen ways to get it, depending on what decal and the vent and such. Try one of the following: M1224.1AAMBK INTAKE COVER KIT W/DECAL, RACING RED (04 Firebolt, no vent) Retail Price:$219.00 M1224.1ATMBK INTAKE COVER KIT, RACING RED, W/DECAL (09 CR, no vent) Retail Price:$219.00 M1224.1AVMBK INTAKE COVER KIT, RACING RED, W/DECAL (UlyXT, vent) Retail Price:$219.00 M1224.2AMMBK INTAKE COVER KIT, RACING RED, W/DECAL (09 1125R, no vent) Retail Price:$219.00 M1224.2ATMBK INTAKE COVER KIT, RACING RED, W/DECAL (2010 CR, no vent) Retail Price:$219.00 M1224.3AAMBK (06 Firebolt, vent) INTAKE COVER KIT,RACING RED W/DECAL Retail Price:$219.00 M1224.3AMMBK (2010 1125R, no vent) INTAKE COVER KIT, RACING RED, W/DECAL Retail Price:$219.00 M1224.5A8MBK (XB9R, not sure year, probably no vent) INTAKE CVR KIT, RACING RED W/DECAL Retail Price:$219.00 M1224.5AKMBK (2010 Uly, vent) INTAKE COVER KIT, RACING RED W/DECAL Retail Price:$219.00 As you can see, those are all Racing Red airboxes you can order, only difference between them is the decal and whether it has the vent near the gas cap or not.
