OK, I know a lot of folks (myself included) take the passenger pegs and mounts off their bikes. Problem is, that eliminates any bodywork protection you might have for the tail. I'm working on an idea for a slider. It would mount to the 2 peg bracket mount holes on the tail section, and mount a slider - either delrin, or aluminum, but a standard replaceable slider - tight enough to the bodywork to not look awful, but still give protection to the tail section. This would work on XB-R, XB-S, and 1125 bikes. Post here if you'd be interested. Right now, just an informal poll to see if interest warrants programming/development. |

That's a good idea. If you get some renders or proto pics please post them. |

Coming soon to this thread, the non-sponsor Nazis. |

Good idea, but my muffler hangers will be going there, hopefully over the Christmas holiday. Mike |

it is ridiculous if you have to be a sponsor to come up with new ideas. |

But Ratbuell is a sponsor. It is all fair game. Thank you Badlionsfan for trying to stir the pot. |

Are we all aware of how much (read: little) tail plastic costs? These better be cheap. |

I would be more worried about a slider damaging the sub frame from transmuting too much force. I am not an engineer, so I don't know how to work out what the slider would take vs what the tail section can take on its own and all that stuff. Also, a tail section plastic is only $160 retail. |

Well how well do the passenger pegs hold up in a spill? Do they just break off, bend or transmit force to the sub frame? |

I cant see the slider transmitting any more force to the sub frame then what it is already going to see from smacking the ground. You would just be eliminating the crumple zone effect of the plastic tail. But what do I know, I am en engineer |

Not sure if Dark horse still has them but I knew at one point he had a slider that went in place of the passenger peg, but that leaves the whole foot peg mounting arm hanging out in the breeze and not the best looking thing. |

Froggy, Actually I think the dealer he works for is a sponsor. Do not think he is a sponsor. I could be wrong. Just thought the pot needed stirring. Mike Long Island, NY 09 XB12X Red/Black 09 1125CR Black/White |

Yea he would have to sell them through the dealer, and not something like Ratbuell Engineering (can I trademark that? ). We have had dealers sell stuff they made before, for example Latus made a custom muffler for the XB. |

I think some type of "rail" that only sticks out enough to protect the tail would look pretty cool. But as stated, the tail plastics are pretty cheap, so cost vs bennefit could be an issue. Froggy, I forgot rat worked for a dealer/sponsor. My bad. |

I'm as realistic as everyone else here...and the tail plastics, while cheap now...well, we'll leave the keyword as "now". Dunno about anyone else, but if I drop my CR ten years down the road...I want to keep the tail together ...and I could create a new username for the dealership...but that would be too confusing for my simple mind! |

Good point on the future pricing and or availability. Like I said before, I think a solid "rail" made of aluminum that flows with shape of the tail piece could actually look pretty cool if done right. Offer it powder coated to match the 3 different body colors and I think you'd have a hit IMHO. |

A delrin cylinder that sticks straight out from the passenger peg bracket mounting area would probably work and be the cheapest. I would be interested. |

I'd also be interested, especially if it provides a loop or something to mount soft bags in addition to providing some additional tipover protection. I was thinking about mounting a very simple bracket to tie my Cortech bag straps. |
