I'm still laughing from yesterday eating this post again! Big bird is funny as hell. I would have been pissed if it was me they were talking about... but it is still funny! I would have just shot a stupid unworthy insult back!
"The bike I'm riding may be as ugly as big bird, but I didn't complain about how ugly yo mama was when I was riding her either!" or something like that!
Buewulf,
You forgot the Ugly Helicopter the apache!!! One BAD ASS bird!
Electraglider, that was a very dangerous thing for him to do. I would probably have had a heart attack if something like that had happened to me. he should have at least given you a warning. The closest thing I've ever gotten to a compliment was from a buddy that has a 1200GSA, a WeeStrom, and a FJ1300. Up until he rode mine, he always talked about how fugly it was (from a 1200GSA rider that didn't carry much weight in my book). After we traded for 10-15 minutes he was grinning ear to ear and said that the Uly was a hooligan bike. He pulled wheelies 3-4 times and was leaving me in the dust out of every corner. Riding his BMW made me realize all over again how much I love my Uly. It really made me think about a line from a Counting Crows song "Big Yellow Taxi"...... You dont know what you've got till its gone.
remember beauties in the eye of the beholder. I do remember the first uly I saw and I didn't have a favorable opinion then I rode one and fell in love. would you call a Dewalt drill pretty no but it'll get the job done.
i gotta admit , that yellow looks sweet , tho ... i must contest , CARBON FIBER IS THE FASTEST!!!!!! i swapped the front beak for a normal lookin carbon fiber fender and i think i gained 15 more top end mph! lol , also , last time i was home in jacksonville NC , i took the uly to jacksonville moto x park , just a nice big outdoor moto x track , after a few warm up and roll over laps on the jumps , i hit a table top at about 38-43 mph which resulted in about 12-15 feet of air over roughly 25 feet of distance , the uly felt heavy as hell airborn , but landed too sweet!!! after a few passes over the table top i decided it was better i not try to push my luck in the woops section and the taller more challenging jumps , packed it up , cruised it out to the road and back to my buddys house where i had him record the following video , ***DISCLAMER*** IF YOUR NEW TO THE SPORT AND HAVE JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED YOUR FIRST STREET BIKE DO NOT ATTEMPT ANYTHING IN THE FOLLOWIN VIDEO , LOL NO IM NOT A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL , NOR WAS THIS RIDING PEFORMED ON A CLOSED COURSE , ANOTHER WORD OF ADVISE , IF U DO SO CHOOSE TO PARTAKE IN HOOLIGAN RIDING , DONT HARASS 4 WHEELED DEATH TRAP DRIVERS , THEY ARE BIGGER THAN US , WITH THAT BEING SAID .... ENJOY!!!!!!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWARD8xTJuA

You meet all kinds of people. I have met more that liked the Uly than those that did not. Maybe that's because those who do not like it say away. I have told this story more than once.
One day a certain Badwebber and I were at a stop with the Uly dirty, marked up from previous oops, and his pristine white Road King parked along side. A tall fellow walks up and starts making rounds around the the Uly. He asked a bunch of questions about it and even walking away kept looking over his shoulder at it. He liked the bike and did not mind the looks of the bike at all. The entire time he never looked at the beautiful Harley next to the Uly.
It takes all types and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, even if the eyes staring back do look like Beaker's. Classic Barker.
To me the best response for the Big Bird comment is...
"You'll never confuse it for a Sheep, no matter the color."
