Man these things look weak. I pulled one out and its like a 6mm bolt holding it on. It doesnt look trust worthy. Im going to tap it with a bigger bolt.

Yamaha uses 6mm bolts. The bolt shouldn't be much of an issue. The whole area looks kind of weak though. Not a problem for holding up the bike, but if the spool gets caught in a crash, I can see them breaking off the mount.

I drilled and tapped my swingarm for 6mm bolts and 2 years later, no problems.

I think the spool is supposed to break off, limiting the swingarm damage. Strengthining a "weak" link is not always a good idea.

I hear what you are saying, but I thing that the 6mm bolt will still be stronger then the mounting boss.

I would think the larger bolt would help it come off easier in a crash. Im sure at some point im going to yard sale it so I will worry about that when it happens. I just dont want it to fall off the stand in the pits.

Actually I just put a longer bolt in which makes it easier for the pit bull stand.
Waiting on the current pics until we finalize the deal.

Did you reuse the stock spools? You going to be at Tally Jan 9th?

Before you go modifying the bike, take a look here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/520547.html?1260403479

Yamaha uses 6mm spools and I've never had a problem with them. A beefier spool may help reduce damage to the swing arm but you don't need a larger diameter bolt hole.
