I was getting ready to hop back on her outside of a mall today when a passerby said "it looks like you're riding Big Bird". Has anyone received such a direct insult before from a non-biker? | ||

I don't mean to laugh but that is kind of funny!  As long as you like the bike, it doesn't matter what others think, does it? I think these Buells look cool! | ||

Never from someone not on a bike, but 3-4 times from HD riders, twice at HD dealers. I'd actually chuckle at that one myself....at least its original. Better than the "why dont you get a real bike", "I just can't understand why anyone would ride a POS bike like one of those". | ||

Well I love my Uly but admit it guys...she looks kind of unconventional. Because I enjoy the bike so much the looks have grown on me. The beak...well...I'm not going there. | ||

Bigbird, humph. I think it looks more predatory, say like a pterodactyl. I think a pterodactyl would eat Bigbird and spit out yellow feathers while flying on it's way.   | ||

Not funny...my Uly license plate is BGBRD.... I got it for the Road Glide that was yellow, it was a big bird. I still have the plate and it's going on the 2010 Uly  | ||

This is the first thing I thought of when I saw the 2006 XB12X:  Thought it was ugly and silly. Sat on one and it felt like an old friend I would have just agreed with him about the appearance. It's ugly. It's ugly on purpose. | ||

I call my '08 XT the "oogly" Sorry guys, but I think it's one of the ugliest bikes buell has ever made. But, that didn't stop me from buying one! LOL | ||

I loved the look of the Uly on first site, but it wasn't because it was "pretty". Who the he!! cares if it wins best in show, gettin' me there with a HUGE GRIN is where it's at. If "they" don't get it.......who cares?? If the comment was in jest I'd just laugh, if not.........there's always the other "big bird". I too have received the harshest comments from stereotypical HD owners(or whannabees), not bikers. I personally don't care, didn't buy it for their pleasure......... | ||

Big Bird! Come on. I don't care who ya are! That's funny! See! It has nothing to do with which color is faster. THIS is why black is better than yellow. The Uly has attracted a lot of attention in the 2.5 months I've owned it, and all of the comments from riders and non-riders have been positive thus far (except for relentless Buell jokes about the cooling fan, of course). Ulys, GS's and Adventures aren't "pretty bikes" in the same way an Abrams isn't a "pretty tank". They are just badass. Unless your Uly is yellow, in which case you should draw a smiley face on your helmet, rewire your horn to play the Sesame Street theme song and replace your top box with a trash can and grouchy green puppet.  | ||
