We use the Rapid Transit/Joe Rocket bags from newenough.com. They were like $15 last year, are super durable and fit our bikes great. I have 2 of them, this is the best pic I could find- 1 on the X1, 1 on the XB!  | ||

How does the Rapid T mount on the XB? | ||

It has the standard under-seat single buckle and 2 buckles up front, with 1 strap between them. i wrap the the front strap down around the steering head. Yes, I remove it to fuel up, but that only takes clicking 2 buckles and it's off. I have not seen too many variations from this design among other tank bags. | ||

I looked at the Abrams bag that NewEnough has now on closeout - link above - but it's the larger version of what was on sale last year and - stupidly - I passed up when they had it. I took down the dimensions of the Abrams (the one they have now), and will check on the bike, but for Aubrey and Andy, could you please confirm what model you got - whether it's the big Abrams they have now, or the slightly smaller one they used to have. Well, I know I'm getting the Abrams, as that's what I ordered yesterday. I think Andy has the Bradley.     Notice the difference in the stripe pattern on the side, and the height of course. | ||

Bikertrash that is one big a$$ tankbag! Ironically mine was delivered today. It is a big SOB too! WOW  I threw it on the bike just to give you all a perspective:    I need to properly install it so I think after doing so it will settle a bit more. I am excited because now I can stuff my Frog Togs and other nick-nacks so I dont have to put them in my pockets! The bag is really nice and has a very durable feel. The zippers and stitching are very nice and the overall quality seems great. A steal for 17 bucks plus 9 dollars for shipping... | ||

It's funny, because all those "big" bags look really big until you sit on the bike. Then they don't seem so big anymore. I have a Nelson-Rigg bag that I used on my XB12S that looked absolutely mammoth, but was perfect for carrying my lunch and coffee to work, and packed enough for weekend trips. I like the angular aft end of the Abrams 'cause I've got the 1125CR-with-clubmans now and I think it'll work better with the riding position. | ||

I ordered the Abrams yesterday. Looks a little big for the bike, but at least it will be practical. I think the shape will also help push wind up higher off my chest. Now I'll have to get heated grips to be able to pack this big bag and go for a long ride this winter!!! | ||

my apologies if my posts mis-lead anyone to buy a tank bag that was different than they thought they would get.  on the other hand, Piotr12, my bag is quite small- a pair of shoes would never fit. 2 20 ounce water bottles and its full. its perfect for what I use it for tho: wallets, keys, phones, cameras, etc. for our day trips. | ||

x2, no need to apologize! I was merely stating that the bag was BIG and that is not a bad thing. As I mentioned above, I am stoked that I will be able to fit my rain gear in there along with my hi-viz vest for those days when I get caught in the wet stuff. @ Brumbear- That is my turkey fryer lol... It needs to be put away but not until I whip up some hot wings with the leftover oil from Thanksgiving  | ||

Andy, no apologies required, or desired I always like having a big bag. Here's a little more info about my large Nelson Rigg I referred to earlier: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=496363&post=1162701#POST1162701 I'll likely be making up the same mounting system for the new Abrams when it shows up next week, since it worked so well for the Nelson Rigg. | ||

Question for any tank-bag users: What's the best way to deal with the front straps and their plastic connectors, if you want to ride without the bag and don't want to un-install the front strap(s)? I was thinking of using the front airbox cover screws as I have seen others do, but the only thing I can think of to keep the straps from flying around in the wind would be to make up a short strap with a male clip attachment on both ends: clip it into the 2 straps nice and snug. But it still might scratch up the airbox. Any better ideas, short of un-installing? | ||

I have a Coretech Super Mini. It is not a bad bag but I have three problems with the bag 1 the clear part on the top is now a yellow brown color form the sun. (it only in the sun when I'm riding it) 2 one if the zipper tabs broke off. 3 it does not stay center of the bike it keeps sliding to the right. I've tried all sorts of things to keep it in the center of the bike but with no luck. that is my 2 cents | ||

well I'm glad you all like it! and I agree with your comments about having a larger bag- if I had ANY discretionary funds right now, I would pick up the larger one for road trips... as far as leaving the strap installed: the tanks bags I have used all have 1 continuous strap between the 2 front buckle, so theres really nothing to leave installed. its very quick and easy to simply sling the strap under the steering head to the other side to install the bag. so I'm no help there! | ||

I also have the old school Buell tank bag for my Firebolt and I love it. I was looking at getting a Buell Deluxe Tank Bag, but there aren't too many left out there. I was out at a shop the other day and came across the Cortech 21 Liter tank bag. I liked it a lot. It had all kinds of room in it, didn't seem too big, and looked like I could fix up the connectors to work just like the Buell bags. http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/catalog/21-Liter-T ank-Bag-p-144_31.html On my Firebolt, I left the front clips screwed onto the airbox cover even when I wasn't using the bag. The only downside I see is that the nylon straps seem to have shrunk a bit over time. Sometimes it's hell getting them all to clip on. But then after a few miles, it all loosens back up. I think I might get that Cortech bag for my Uly. |
