Vbulletin is what the XLforum uses it is the slowest thing to load I have found. I would spend more time there except for the wait between pages there is time to go get another cup of coffee while it loads. |

Now landracing.com uses SMF and it seems to load at about the same speed as badweb, but they have had problems. |

the indicated times are Eastern. Not real hard to keep track of True. But unless you keep all the clocks in your house on UTC, you're just being argumentative. Normal people prefer to see time represented in their local time zone, and normal forum software accommodates this with a preference setting. That whole automated adding and subtracting thing is what computers are really good at. KeS |

True. But unless you keep all the clocks in your house on UTC, you're just being argumentative. And you are being a petty complainer...what time zone are you in? I'll help you with the conversion. |

That whole automated adding and subtracting thing is what computers are really good at. They must be waiting for you down at the variety stores. Don't you count your change? Why do I need to know what time it is somewhere else? |

The clock? Who cares! Doesnt everybody have a clock on the wall? V bullitin isnt all that great. Im on two other boards that use V bullitin and I dont find them any better, just different. I rather enjoy that I can load this site swiftly on my cell phone which is why I post here far more often than I do on the other boards. I like the auto spell check here as well. The preview of your post here is nice as well. If you stick around long enough to get past the few negatives of this board you will find that it has many positives as well. Kinda reminds me of my Buell... |

Badweb is great on my iPhone with this software. Loads super fast and looks just like it does on a pc. My vote is leave it alone. |

My only complaint is with some of the attitudes. The board works fine. |

I used to be quite active on Motorcycle.com. Their forum was set up just about like this. Probably the same software. They changed, and now IMHO they suck. I hate most boards, and love this one. Please don't change a thing. Rob |

I love it! It's fantastic that this board is here, and it's free, and *I* don't have to do a damn thing but read and post on it. I've been a moderator of a forum, and I've helped set up and run one. It's a horrible pain in the ass. Blake and company, do whatever you please my friends. Your hard work and dedication to the Buell community is appreciated. |

I agree, do whatever you please, but start with moving this thread to the appropriate board. |

It isn't hard to do, just use the quote command. It would be nice if there was a one click button to quote a whole post though. I am not sure if that can be implemented or not. |

I have a pair of leather riding gloves that I bought in 1984. There's a scuff on the right hand outside knuckle from a low side get off sometime in the early 90's. I've taken proper care of them over the years, rubbing them down with some Langlitz Leather Care on regular basis. When I put these gloves on history comes back, all of great rides and the rides that didn't go as planned. This forum is like my gloves, if you've been here for a while, it just fits. It's like connecting with an old friend. Chris (Message edited by Christaylor on December 14, 2009) |

if only for the sake of the vastly better search capabilities of a new board and the archaic archiving function this software needs refreshment. |

Vbulletin is what the XLforum uses it is the slowest thing to load I have found. I would spend more time there except for the wait between pages there is time to go get another cup of coffee while it loads. what do you have for internet... a 22.8k modem and AOL 4.0?? bulletin software is a sore, beat to dead subject. go look in the 'suggestions for a better badweb' folder for dozens of threads like this. ive started atleast two MYSELF! ive even emailed blake to make sure he addressed my issues with the software and that i addressed his hesitations with upgrading. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=161&post=1620298#POST1620298 the MOST pathetic part is that they have software and translators to migrate from this LAME-O software TO VBULLETIN!!!! if any of you are annoyed, go make it worth your while by sending blake a piece of your mind |

the biggest internet forums in the world are using vbulletin... and there is a reason why.. it works. its the same reason why no big forums are using this crapware forum software; and if badweb wants to grow any further, it needs a better foundation. pirate4x4.com - 148,000 members. enough said. |

http://www.big-boards.com/ how many times do you see badweb's special-ed "discussware" on there?? and then how many times do you see vbulletin? |

Enough said? Try accessing pirate from a phone. Its a PITA. I am a member of Pirate and have been for years. I however need to be on a PC to use it. I like that when Im on a motorcycle trip I can access Badweb on demand. The riding game is only a click away. In the end I dont think what I want will matter as I remember reading that Blake was in the process of switching to Vbulliten. I hope he takes his time. Mabey by then I will be able to buy a better phone. |

You seem to be missing the one last element needed, time. There is over half a million threads and several million posts, and 20k users that need to be transfered. It isn't a 1 click operation, otherwise it would of been done a long time ago. The VBulletin version of badweb is pretty cool looking and very similar to the current badweb. I would love to see a transition happen soon, but it doesn't look likely. |

I really like Badweb for ease of use. We use vbulletin on the Porsche and Ford foruns. It's neat but bully and burdened with crap like avatars that cause problems. I admit that my comfort is largely due to being used to discus. |

About the speed/phone issues, many VBulletin forums support a lighter mobile version with most the graphical crap disabled. Usually you would just put a M before the address, like http://m.badweatherbikers.com assuming we actually had it setup. For example, http://slickdeals.net/ and http://m.slickdeals.net/ for the mobile version. |

The Discus to vB translator is poor. It only translates one layer deep. BadWeB has topics like Storm Fronts and the Knowledge Vault that contain multiple layers of subtopic/thread depth. The vB translator won't properly translate any of those subtopics/threads. The only serious issue with Discus is the clunky archiving scheme. There is an upgrade that addresses that. May try implementing it over the holidays. |
