I am in the market for a good quality leather riding/race suit. I have narrowed it down to these 3 items:

Alpinestars MX-1

Alpinestars RC-1

Alpinestars Charger

Does anyone here have experience with these suits? What is the advantage of one versus two piece suits? Since I am an AGATT type of guy, would these work for daily use?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Pete

Why a leather racing suit for street riding? Do you intend to primarily go racing, do track days, be a weekend warrior in the canyons, go touring or look cool at the Sunday morning hangout? The needs for a street oriented riding suit are different for racing leathers.

I've got a set of one-piece AGV Sport leathers and they're just not practical for everyday street use -- too tight fitting, not enough pockets, not waterproof, takes too long to get on and off. On the other hand, they're thick, brightly colored and can attach knee sliders; I'd rate their usability as probably 90% race, 10% street. Don't know how they'd compare to those you selected though. Just thought I'd share my experience with race leathers on the street.: )

Thanks for your input Sparky. That is exactly the type of feedback I am looking for. I currently use mesh for both Summer and Winter gear. The reason I am looking at leather suits is because of many of the reasons you mentioned above. Protection being the main reason. Next year, my goal is to hook up with Midwest Cafe Racing here in Saint Louis.I hope to get some time on the track so a suit would fit the bill. I do enjoy long rides on the weekends and would use them then. Looking cool is really not a priority.
