I've tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but this surely has to be one of the least user friendly bulletin board software packages available. I hate the way it migrates topics into archive oblivion. I hate the way you loose the original post and thread starter's name in the forum summary. I hate that you can't read the number of posts and a signature on posts. I hate that I can't post to archived threads and make them active again. Note to BadWeb owner. Upgrade to vBulletin. Everyone uses it and it's great. |

I agree with this. I disagree with everyone that is going to say if you dont like Blake's playground go somewhere else. |

This forum's software is kinda like a harley. outdated and obsolete. it perplexes me why there hasn't been an upgrade. |

An upgrade to vBullentin has been in the works. The main issue is importing 11 years worth of posts. Not a 1 click operation. |

... and it's cold outside, and I can't ride and there's nothing on tv ... The stuff people find to complain about. Why do you want to to those things anyway? Never mind, that's not the issue. Works just fine for me. |

Paul: Go over and knock on Blake's door and offer some help or........ learn to live with it or......... find another board. Besides, post it on GDB instead of this section since it pertains to more than the 1125. Later Neil S. |

Here's a better idea go to the section that says ways to make a better bad web and and post ways to improve it instead of crying about all the problems |

I was going to post there about why we can't set our time zones so the posting times make sense, but I did a search and found that it's been requested for years. KeS |

Yep. If there is something specific you would like to see, I would love to hear it. I am still trying to figure out how to use the moderating software, but I will do whatever I can to make things better and easier for you guys. I do have a FAQ type section in the works.

The 1125 section has a totally different user base than the other 90% of Badweb. People in here tend to be more short tempered and at each others throats. It is a night and day difference between here and say, the Big Bad and Dirty. |

I know, I know. It's that "43 day/37 post member that wants to rearrange the furniture" thing. It's that "the other ones are better but I'll stay and complain about this one" thing. It's that "perfectly rational disagreement with a perfectly rational complaint and getting called poopy" thing. Hang around, it gets to be even more fun. |

I'm not real forum savvy, but I don't find this software hostile or clunky. Do you have any examples of public fora that use vBulletin? I'm just curious. Mostly, it's the content that counts. |

It is a night and day difference between here and say, the Big Bad and Dirty. thats from that nice... influx of newbs because of the cheap 1125's. they dont know any better. not sure some of them ever will..... on another note, the forum works fine. |

At the risk of dragging out a topic that has no relevance in this section, I like the format here. The other forums I use have all the useless frilly pix and graphics for everyone that posts and takes gobs of time to load up on my 8-track vintage computer. I'd like to visit a forum with the infamous vBulletin and see how much better it allegedly is. This place is like Dragnet: "Just the facts." Works fine for me. |

This board does support avatars and other graphical junk, but that function was disabled due to people posting not so nice pictures. I can link to some archives with avatars. I personally would love to see them return and be disabled for abusers. |

just visit any other forum. doesn't matter what subject matter, from basket weaving to midget tranny porn. there's a high probability that is using vBulletin. |

Our Porsche group and the F-150 group uses vbulletin. It's cumbersome in some ways and the avitars are a real problem. Well, not so much when they have the be approved by moderators. How would a $50 annual fee for an avitar be? That'd allow folks who think it's important to have a set of bouncing boobs next to their name to strut their stuff. I'm probably a Luddite, a creature of mental momentum, but I just "search since last visit" and can easily track everything on Badweb. Vbulletin I **think**. Is a lot of work to maintain. May be wrong on that. |

once setup, there's no maintenance needed on vbulletin besides the routine backups. i suspect with the archiving scheme that this current forum's backend is file based rather than using a database. maybe someone more familiar with this software can chime in. |

I am pretty old school when it comes to bulletin boards. I used to run one out of my bedroom when I was a kid. 1200 baud auto answer modem. Only one user at a time could dial in and read/leave messages. The whole thing ran off of a 360k floppy drive and the database was on another 360k floppy drive. That was high tech stuff for a 13 year old in 1985. Coming from those days, this site is light years ahead. In the end, it's all about leaving messages, which this site does fine. This is also one of the few sites that's usable on a mobile device. Those avatars and graphics take up a lot of small screen real estate. The only thing I'd put on my Bad Web Christmas list is the function that takes you to your last read post versus trying to figure out where you left off when you last visited. |

I dunno. Badweb's like one of my tubers to me...sure, there are newer, shinier, and "better"...but there's not a damned thing wrong with my S2 and I get a smile every time I ride it, so I'm happy with it! Hey Froggy - if you *really* want a different attitude here, visit Old School sometime. It's slowed down quite a bit in the last few months - I think a lot of us oldsters are...getting disenchanted? But still a great bunch o folks. BBD...is about halfway between 1125 and Old School. I just wish Badweb read better on wireless (Blackberry)....but for the sake of the rest of my life, it's probably a good thing it doesn't LOL. |

I'm with Chad. Avatars and the like are a waste of bandwidth. Besides, BadWeb's Plain Jane appearance makes is almost invisible in the workplace. |

I was pleasantly surprised how quickly and completely WB laods on my iPhone 3Gs. I have complete functionality also. The other Buell sites that use the vBulletin are 5-6x slower loading. 90% of the functionality is there but there are some display issues. BWB just follows Erik's mantra of function over form. Until we can have a newer and better BWB that doesn't compromise this, I'm voting to keep the status quo. Time2PLay (with my 1125rt) Neil S. |

i've said it here and other places - this place offers the best buell info there is. point blank, i cant go anywhere else and get the knowledge and support as here. but this forum (the kind of program) blows. phpbb is free vbulletin is cheap both are easy to manage and things, like here, can be disabled to prevent abuse/graphic images etc. i'd LOVE to see a change and would happily donate money to do so. the searching on here is junk. i hate how things are not in cronological order (as far as some of the bigger sections with pictures etc) but its where the best info is so i have to just deal with the crap. |

It's not exactly feature rich or keeping up with the times, but I do find its functionality (at least on a desktop/laptop) okay if not great. Maybe it appeals to the nostalgia in me ... I started using this forum when I bought my X1 years ago, and I can't see that much has changes when I came back after buying my '09R. Mike |
