I know I posted this in the wider Quick Board section, but since it started life here in the 1125 section, I wanted to close the loop.

Several of you were very helpful in getting me set-up to haul my '09R, and helping me get the nerve to actually ride it up there.

I installed a wheel chock, used Cycle Cynch, added a few new anchor points, and bought a decent ramp (34" wide). Last step - Conquering the fear!

Btw, I MUCH prefer to loop the straps around the top of the lower triple clamp and not use a canyon dancer.

1. CDs always mess up your grips, even the best of them, just a little.

2. The bike is a lot more stable strapped down by the lower triple.

These are the Cycle Cynch variety, apparently better than the Canyon Dancer model. However, they didn't fit as nicely as I was hoping. I was expecting equal pressure along the length of the color, but it pulls harder on the inboard side ... Could probably alleviate with a different mounting location? On the lower triple clamp, I was concerned about damaging the front fender, but it's entirely possible that I'm missing something obvious!

looking good....ditto on Jdugger's comment on using the lower triples. FWIW I sometimes use a little duct tape if I think the straps may be close to bodywork; applied either on the tupperware itself or the strap....since they sometime 'flap'.

What bed length is that? 6ft? Just trying to quickly assess my hauling options. Have to make an 800 mile run myself with one or maybe two bikes.

+1 on using Triples.. I don't like the flex you get with the Canyon Dancers. Had a buddy bend his bars that way on a Ducati once.

+10000000. Have drove two bikes home this way. One was from Rhode Island back to Minnesota and one from Texas to Minnesota. Never moved the entire time.

This is the short bed 1500. The tailgate comes about 3/4" from closing (latching), and the chock is pushed flush (just a tiny gap so it doesn't rub) to the front of the bed.

I even trimmed the aftermarket bedliner to buy a little extra room. On a diagonal, the tailgate latches - But I didn't want that arrangement. I rigged a way to keep it up securely.

I was impressed with just how well the bike rode in the bed. I tried everything ... Bumps, turns, freeway, faster stops. Well, after a few miles of seeing it sit perfectly still that is.

Pizzaboy, extra points for mind reading! I've raced (drag raced) a number of cars over the years, and maybe it's time to figure out the twisties on two wheels. I also installed the rear fender eliminator / license relocation kit last night, so it will look even better in the truck now ... It's the little things!
