I have an 09 CR With the 141 flash, I keep getting LOW FUEL SYS ERROR every time I fill the bike up. It has been doing this after the flash! After I fill the bike and turn on the key the fuel light is lit and the engine light is lit. Is this bad????

Check your vent tube make sure it's not pinched.

Jdugger, My vent tube seems to breath well, I usually pull the gas cap after a ride so gas does not drip out the tube... I will check it anyway.

It's the level sensor out-of-range that sets the DTC.
Mine has been doing this for a while and will go in for diag and repair soon.

Only happens when it's cold outside.
I live in Colorado, mornings are near freezing now.

AFAIK the only fix is a new fuel pump.
Gotta see what Service comes up with.
Very hard for me to let go and drop her off tho.

I have some warranty repairs to be completed also.

She's only been "in the hospital" once...

I think it is low fuel signal from the lamda.. Only a bad discription... What looks like there is something very wrong..

Zack, I think what you should do, don;t fix it.

Swap the stock ECM with another one, (race ECM) and see if the fault code exits)

Try this too see if I am righr.....

I think there will be no Trouble code. Could wetter wilt +++ the need of Fuel.

search the forum, there have been a few reports of this occurring, it is thought to be cold fuel taking the resistance/voltage of the fuel level sensor out of range and a fault code/CEL being posted, an annoying issue that happened to me last winter, I am waiting to see if this occurs this winter and if it does than a warranty claim will be made - spoils a great bike

The fuel level sensor is a thermistor.
It is supposed to measure between 800-1400 Ohms, IIRC.

It reads 2200 Ohms when cold which is outside the limits and sets the B1005 DTC.

Easiest fix would be to expand the limits in software in the ECM.
Barring that, the next viable fix is replace the out-of-range sensor, which is integral to the fuel pump.

I'm not following you, Dris.
This isn't a fuel-mixture-burn issue.
It's a level(amount) in-the-tank-sensor problem.

The fuel level sensor seems to do it's job tho, when level gets low, just the LFL, no CEL.
I got Loretta checked in to Service yesterday, good timing, got about 8" of snow last night.

Will keep all apprised of the prognosis.

I asked Max to get the error to repeat, then do the new flash and see if that fixes it.
I'd really rather not have my fuel pump replaced unless it's necessary.

So far, he's working on the clutch dribble and replacing the fork leg.

Max checked the sensor and it was 2000 Ohms.
He ordered a new fuel pump after a discussion with "Tech Services".

Zack,

Did the new fuel pump fix the problem?

I rode home from work the other night in 35° weather and was promptly greeted with the LOW FUEL SYS ERROR. I discussed this with my dealer (as I was scheduling my appointment for new tires and the latest flash), but they did not seem to have encountered the issue before.

New (reputable) word is, the IC has a bug up to SW6.1.
New IC with 6.2(2008-2009) or 7.1(2010) will fix the problem.
Anything else is a "band-aid".
