Is there a comprehensive list on slip-ons for the 1125R that includes noise volume?
I know which are really loud, D&D for example.
How about FMF with full DB killer? HMF? Etc.
I wonder if EBR will have an offering for the street. I know it will probably come with the same "not for on road use" disclaimer, like the old race-kit pipes for the XB's.
I have to believe there are a lot of 1125 owners who want something better looking than the stock pipe, that isn't really loud.
Roadrash, I have a jardine CF slip on and I rode with a friend who has the torque hammer. The Jardine is louder, and the Hammer is deeper(not by that much). My comparison is mostly at idle because I couldnt hear his exhaust while riding. IMO the Jardine sounds very "race like", especially under load. At idle is sounds like a blackhawk is hovering about 50 feet above you! The Hammer is more mellow and not as in your face. You dont notice the noise at speed. City riding especially when you have the exhaust bouncing off cars parked on the side of the road is pretty damn loud. But I live in a area with a lot of stupid drivers(Paterson, NJ). So the sooner they can hear me coming the better!
The 1125 Jardine is not like the xb one though. I had the one for the xb and it was like a tin can. Mine does not have that rattle/vibration like the xb version.
Thats just my opinion, I am sure someone else will attest to the opposite.
I have not heard them side by side but, IIRC, the TH is much quieter than the Jardine. The TH is very mellow w/o bark or crackle, which is what can annoy more than just db's. Maybe we can do a comparo to an FMF if Matt will be in town.
Jornum did a one wheel highly spirited flyby on me on rt 80 the other day and the Jardine is loud as hell I can tell you it rattled the windows in my van and made the other cagers look like bobble heads

I have heard in person: D&D = F'n loud. Sounds like a NASCAR stock car. FMF w/o inserts = not as loud or deep as the D&D, raspy sound Jardine w/ packing removed= not as loud as the FMF Buell race = Deep sound like the D&D, not as loud as D&D.
Pipes that will scrape @ the track: D&D Early Jardine
I'm in DC for a week or so. I'm a busy fella, but I hope to shoot Neil's TQ hammer video with my mic that will record it without distortion like I did w/ the fmf.

I have the FMF Apex slip-on and installed it in the quietest position it runs like crap and it made it like 1db better it was still loud as hell. It runs badass with it out and my jardine protune 3. Ill just wear ear plugs like i normally do. So do not buy this if you want quiet. Just a heads up for you

Jack - what settings did you use with your Jardine Protune 3 and the FMF? I have just the FMF with the quiet insert in the "less volume" position and a K&N filter. I am currently showing 116 front, 100 rear AFVs and am just now getting some popping on decel after 250 miles on the pipe. Thanks in advance.
To keep this post on topic, the FMF is definitely much louder than stock with the quiet insert in the less position, not quietest position. Love the sound though. About as deep as the HMF at idle but with some nicer higher tones when on the throttle. Plus, you can't beat the 20% discount now through March!
FMF slip on lost midrange power when the insert was in the most quiet position. This is still pretty loud at idle. Not to bad when moving. I just switched the insert the other way with the cone pointing toward the exhaust exit and it is not much louder. It has midrange power back but seems less powerful than stock.
I wish American Sportbike would do another comprehensive exhaust test for the 1125, like they did for the XB. Barring that, I am very happy with my FMF slip-on, especially considering the 20% factory discount.
Regarding power, my seat-of-the-pants dyno doesn't detect any less power. However, let's say it lost around 3 HP, putting out say 122 vs. 125 for the stock exhaust, which is supposedly the best exhaust for broad power with stock tuning. According to my home digital scale the FMF Apex Carbon/Ti Slip-on saves exactly 15.4 pounds over the stock exhaust. Assuming 440 lbs wet weight for the stock bike, that would make the power-to-weight ratio 3.52 stock vs. 3.48 FMF. Even though that's barely a 1-percent difference, it is much more meaningful to me to have the increased flickability of the lighter bike and the killer sound. I couldn't even hear the motor with the stock exhaust and earplugs in.
Jack, I've got an FMF Apex slipon on my CR and a protune 3 on my workbench ready to install. Got any tips/advice for me. I was going to denoid it first. I'm still breaking it in at 400 miles. I did not change the air filter/box. I was afraid of getting a CEL. Have had the pipe on since day one. AFV's are now 110F and 105 rear. Installed without the cone and it is BADDD(loud and fast) Terry
I have one that is supposed to arrive today. Ordered on 11/13 so I am getting a tad impatient. I ordered the "quiet core" in case the pipe sounds too obnoxious. I'll let you know what happens.
