I've been searching around for a tuber for a while and finally found one. This one has 5k miles on it and I'm getting it from the original owner. I had a XB9sx when they first came out but sold it for a dual sport. The older Buells always 'spoke' to me and I finally pulled the trigger. I should have it next week,I'm having it shipped from a couple of states away. It's got a Force exhaust and air, Banke foot controls, race ecm and a power commander#2. Any thoughts on the running of both of those? I need to figure out how to make my pictures smaller |

Congrats on the new X1. Yes, pictures please. If you use Microsoft they have a great plugin for XP (maybe Vista), part of their Powertoys. It's here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/power toys/Xppowertoys.mspx It works great for quick resize. I use it all the time. Just select a picture, or group of them, and right click the mouse to select resize. The size options appear. Doesn't overwrite the originals. |

Nice white on white. Looks like you figure out how to re-size the pictures quicker than I could type! |

congrats- I have an X1 as well. Purchased it 18 months ago w/ 2800 miles. May favorite bike to date. Not sure about the power commander and the race ecm being run together. I was always told the power command does funky thinks on a buell. |

Great looking bike. Post the pictures to something like photobucket.com so that we can see larger shots. |

my Bike with the race ECU and the Force runs very rich, way too rich. I'll go the HD here in Miami and I'll have them fine tuning the bike cause it makes all my kickstand and the swingarm completely black, like yours as I can see from the pictures... nice bike! |

Huh, thanks for seeing the exhaust mount. Is that a big problem? Where can I get something to fix it or will I have to make something |

So, aside from maybe the exhaust being a problem, what should I do to a bike that hasn't been serviced for a few years? Change oil, spark plugs, battery? Anything else? Brake fluid? Anyone live in the Austin area want to help?, or should I take it to a dealer for it's 'first' service. thanks ben |

Yeah, I would change the oil, filter, trans fluid, and the brake fluid. Make sure the exhaust is as it should be, and look at the plugs. Otherwise, if it runs OK, leave it alone. And most folks around here take power commanders off and get rid of them. Get a service manual (Al at American Sport bike is an excellent source) and do it yourself. Nothing complicated here, saves dollars, and you know the job was done right. And if the starter starts to 'labor' when starting, then a battery is a good choice. Over 5 yrs and it is time to start thinking about replacement. |

Safd, Take of that filter sock on the Forcewinder intake, you'll gain some power, and less of that black soot from the exhaust because it won't run as rich then (it really restricts air flow and is only needed in the rain). Also, check all the isolators for tears. |

+1 on the filter sock. Only run it when it's raining. I sent you a PM on XLForum, but disregard it because I thought you were talking a out the front exhaust mount. The one on the rear looks broken off entirely, in which case you should take the exhaust off and have the mount welded back on if it's still there, otherwise have a new steel tab built and welded on to mount the exhaust at the rear. |

Thanks for the help everyone. Will dealers have welding abilities or is this a auto muffler shop job? Can it be ridden as is or will the exhaust shake off. The previous owner said that he never noticed it and reminded me that the sale was 'as is'. I'm a dumb ass it looks like in other pictures that I have there are no turn signals. The owner said he took it to the track. I guess I was too excited at the price and didn't pay close enough attention. Not comforting. He is the original owner though. ben (Message edited by safd on December 08, 2009) |

I would take it to a muffler shop, just because of the price, uncanny irresponsibility and stupidity of most of the dealers. Any competent muffler shop can fix it for you. |

Dave, seeing as you will have no use for it until it's spring in Alaska (July? LOL), I'd be happy to keep it running for you down here in Maryland. Heh Heh. |

Did you bring your bikes down with you? Great place for winter riding - best to the west of the state, obviously. |

Yes I did. And haven't had a chance at the Dragon yet, as the roads around here are so neat I haven't gotten there yet. The loop from Waynesville to Hot Springs, using NC 209, is so cool. And then the roads to the Blue Ridge Pkwy, and the Great Smokey National Park, and ... and.... |
