Anyone run this stuff on their X1? I've had a vest for a couple years and it works fine. I added the gloves and I can run either or, but not both at the same time. I'm not running any other mods in the electrical department (stock lights, turn signals, brake lights). I didn't do any homework (like figuring out current draw) just wonder if there's any data out there. It's pretty friggin cold up here, but there isn't any snow yet. |

Stock charging system is 22 amp. 13.5 volt X 22amp = 297 watts. Start subtracting watts of the major items of the electrical system from the 297 watts. Head lamp X watts, Brake/ Tail lamps Y watts, Fuel pump Z watts...etc. Ball park you have about 100 watts to play with for heated gear. Gerbing's jacket liner is 77 watts, and I think their gloves are 22 watts IIRC. Of course at idea the charging system is not putting out the max output, so be aware of that. |

Matt, I have a voltage meter light on the dash of my Ulysses because of all the gadgets I have on it heated gear, grips, GPS, sometimes charging the cell phone and that Dang Fan that runs all of the time! Light is mounted in my dash, its a single bulb that can go from green to red depending on how much drain the electrical system has. K I run the Gerbings full jacket liner and gloves on the X1 with no problem! (Message edited by babired on December 07, 2009) |

I put a Kuryakyn voltmeter on my S2 (have one on the Uly, too). S2 has LED taillight/tag light, 35w PIAA aux lights, Garmin Quest II GPS, stock turn signals. I have a thermostat for my heated jacket and gloves (Gerbings/HD). I can see the meter blink from 12v to 10v as my jacket cycles on/off at idle; 10v to 8v if I have the aux lights on. Running speed, though, it does just fine. 14v all the way |

Wow I didn't realize E-gear drew that much. 100 watts seems like a lot, but it does keep my fat arse warm I have the Kuryakan charge meter (it's an arc of lights). I suppose I should get off my butt and get it installed. I was just bummed it didn't work out of the box. Too cold to be spending time in the garage these days I will try not turning the glove on till I'm on the highway or at least turning 3500 rpm |
