Buell's Australian website no longer notes that Buell is closed down (or however you want to state 'no longer produces Buell motorcycles'). http://www.buell.com/en_au/ IMHO that is downright dishonest; and a prospective buyer has a right to know. It certainly would have influenced MY choice of superbikes, had it closed down before I made my choice. And no, the dealer can't be relied upon to pass along the information (mine didn't tell me the bike had no petrol gauge); and no, Buell Australia can't be relied upon to make the dealer tell buyers (Buell Australia advised me that they have no control over its dealer network). |

At least ya'll still get those sweet fairing decals on your 1125r I suppose it would be naive for one to purchase a Buell at 50% off without wondering the reason why...if they have that deal Down Under. |

I just went to Oldsmobile.com, no announcement of their closing either! I can name half a dozen companies off the top of my head that still have websites but are long gone. About the petrol gauge, what makes you think there was one? |

When is the letter being sent, Red? No petrol gauge? Did you ASK the dealer about the gauge or did you expect the dealer to disclose that it has no petrol gauge? This is all despite the fact it's extremely rare to find a gas gauge on a sportsbike in general. |

Isn't that the name of the oil company that captured King Kong in 1976? Oh, wait... no, that was Petrox. |

I guess that, legally, HD is not required to notify potential customers of Buell ceasing production. If HD can supply the vehicles advertised on the web site and meet their legal obligation with regards to the warranty service, that's probably all that matters -- from a legal standpoint. |

A letter. Good one, fresno. Who will I send it to? Certainly not to Erik! He couldn't even keep his company running. |

And what have YOU done in your lifetime, Red? It's easy to armchair quarterback and it makes you look like a real . PS--He has a NEW company now. http://68.69.168.144/index.htm |

Mmmm, fresno, if anyone looks like a real (how did you spell it?) arsehole with posts it's you. The question isn't what I've done, because I didn't design and build and sell myself a motorbike: Erik did. And in the process, in which he relied on H-D's muscle instead of making his customers happy (read up on how Lexus cracked the US market, for example), HE WENT OUT OF BUSINESS. For a job reference, that's a doozy. Now I tell EVERYONE I meet about my experiences with Erik, with H-D, with Harley City in Brunswick, with H-D's customer service in Sydney; yes, and even about pricks like you; and they can judge for themselves whether they would ever want to own a H-D. Australia is a very small country when it comes to things like this. |

Well it does say "never to be repeated deals" ... that is technically accurate, there's a joke there, but I'm still still too depressed at it all to make fun. :-) |

"IMHO that is downright dishonest; and a prospective buyer has a right to know." Baloney. It is the responsibility of any buyer of any product to exercise due diligence. Fred nailed it. As long as they can meet their legal obligations with regard to parts and warranty service, there is no issue. FYI! Your new Buell also lacks a stereo, cruise control, or a heated seat. Nor a center-stand, steering damper, spare tire, or a dust cover or floor mats. It does provide everything listed in it's brochure and on the web site under 1125R Features. Under "Instrument Cluster" it lists the following:
Instrument Cluster with ODIS Compact yet easy to read, the instrument cluster is next-generation technology for Buell. Featuring ODIS (On-board Diagnostic Information System), it is cradled in a lightweight, magnesium module and features:
- Gear position display as a scroll-to function.
- Analog tachometer with integrated shift light.
- Digital speedometer on LED display.
- ODIS service code display.
- 4-digit security system with ignition immobilizer.
- Lap timer (records up to 99 lap times) and splits.
- Ambient air temperature.
- Coolant temperature.
- Average and instantaneous fuel consumption.
- Miles to next service display
- Low fuel light (plus miles traveled on reserve).
Interestingly, the Australian 1125R apparently includes the Uly Triple Tail, see page 4/4 of the Buell Australia 1125R Rider Focused Design section. Now there you may have a valid complaint, if you were expecting the 1125R to have a Ulysses Triple Tail. LOL. (Message edited by blake on December 05, 2009) |

I'm sure glad the the US spec 1125's left off the triple tail! Works great on the uly but i prefer the cleaner line on a 25 without it |

Hey Red, If you click on "Company" it takes to http://www.buell.com/en_au/company/ where then if you click on "Press Release" you'll find that they do mention the closing...
Milwaukee, Wis. -- (Friday, November 20, 2009) Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE:HOG) announced today that following the company’s recent decision to discontinue the Buell motorcycle product line... Took me a whole 30 seconds to find it. |

Now stop complaining. It's literally freezing here in East Texas today while you are enjoying the rapid approach of Summertime in Oz. Good grief! Buck up and enjoy life! And please, avoid the personal commentaries on BadWeB. Deal? As just recompense, you must now please go out and have a photo taken of you sporting a genuine Ozzie wide-as-the-Outback grin while sitting on your new Buell, then post it up here for us to all marvel at. If you fail to do this, your drive belt will surely fail, the heat exchangers will commence to leaking, and you won't be able to get out of 2nd gear. |

+1, Court. If you fail to do this, your drive belt will surely fail, the heat exchangers will commence to leaking, and you won't be able to get out of 2nd gear. That sounds about right... Remember when his profile said ~ "top speed on 2 wheels- XXX KM/HR" and that worked out to something like 94 MPH? Yep, top of second gear... R |
