Currently I see the following offerings for Buell XB series performance exhaust: Force System, Buell Race system, Latus muffler. I have some reservations about each of these options and I wonder: why are there so few offerings, in relation to the number of mufflers/systems made for the tube frames? Am I missing any other products out there?

If someone would come out with a better free flowing header, then the Latus would be perfect. It makes good power for just a muffler and sound great, but as long as you use the stock header you will have restrictions. I think if a Latus muffler with a larger header would be within 1-2 hp of the force exhaust without the loudness. |

doesn't D&D make one? |

D&D does make one, but it does not boost HP as much as the Force. considering Ar15ls1's post regarding the headers, my guess is that the real boosts will be in a complete system, which Force is the only one to offer so far. (I also heard that the D&D retail is @ $600 ...that's a lot of dough for the gains, but from what I've read, it sounds real nice [I've yet to hear a D&D that didn't]) |

Jardine is also making a slip on for the XBs, I haven't seen one yet in person but that would be another option to consider. Dave |

I can't imagine the force pipe being louder than the latus. The latus was way too loud for me at any rpm above 3k. It sounded awesome at idle and below 3k. If the force pipe is really louder than the latus, I don't see how you could stand it on the street. I would love to find a pipe somewhere in between the stock setup and the latus as far as sound is concerned. |

I'm saving for the force.. the HP gains will be worth the noise (ear plugs) I guess the force is about $100 per HP |

I've had the Force on my M2 for a couple of years now. I don't think it is obnoxiously loud. I think it is the best sounding pipe. The various tones at different rpm's & throttle settings are entertaining. Makes my boring highway commute more fun! |

The Force on my S1 is louder than the Latus on an XB, and the Force baffle only makes the sound a little deeper. From the perspective of getting any utility from a bike that is not acceptable to me. The finish also seems to dull and wear through, it blows exhaust all over the rear wheel, it ate a mount - which they promptly replaced for free - and left me Buell less for a group ride, it is very expensive, and it took over a month to recieve it after I paid for it. I think it makes exceptional power, but the overall cost is to great for the level of benefit it provides. That is all of my experience with a Force on my S1, an XB type Force system may have some of these bitches resolved. From what I've seen I lean toward the Latus. However, Latus has not responded to my questions about a dyno chart or other quantification of their products claims. Also, I don't see how it could make more power without requireing some fuel injection modifications. Seems more likely that when the bike goes to an open loop system, which I'm guessing it does at WOT, you will be running lean - .

Roc, I posted a dyno sheet for the Latus pipe a while ago. It took about 3 weeks for me to get the pipe after I ordered it. They did tell me they were backed up on orders. I only had the pipe on my bike for a couple of days before I took it off and sold it on this board. What I can tell you is that my bike did not appear to have any fuel problems with the pipe that I could notice in my daily ride. It did seem to have a bit better midrange and seem to rev easier. Just too loud for my taste. I ride to work everyday, and knew pretty quickly that it was too loud for me. It is well built and fit easily. I didn't bother to put my bike back on the dyno and ega to compare to stock. |

We'll have a dyno test of the D&D soon. It seems to benefit midrange. I don't understand an emphasis by a Buell streetbike rider on peak HP. |

I'm running a Latus on my Bolt and it is OK, not loud enough for me but that's a personal preference. If and when they get their act together I may start to sell them again. I had 3 of them on order for 2 1/2 months and kept getting the same, in a couple weeks song when I'd call and ask about them. It doesn't make any more power than the Buell race slip on. Ride to the edge! Dave |

What's a Dyno? I'm w/ Blake. The gains by an exhaust alone are mostly irrevalent and anything short of a 10% gain would not even be noticeable by most riders. I see the Force dyno print but I'm still going to remain skeptical until I see the results duplcated independently. IMO they look too good to be true. As to the Wileyco - Less Filling, Sounds Great. Love It |

I don't blame you for being skeptical, I'd be skeptical myself if I hadn't been standing right there when the pulls were done (with my fingers in my ears by the way). Wish you were closer, I'd just have you come over and see it. Shipments of these pipes are finally starting (these charts were a prototype system). We dyno'ed a bike with a production system for the first time today, made 107hp but it has a bunch of other stuff too. Hopefully though as these pipes get out into the field, some folks will get their bikes dyno'ed and we'll get some confirming charts posted. |

but the nallin is a header/baffle/power commander/o2 sensor. not just a "slip on" did the 107 have the 1050 heads? or was that a 12s |

It doesn't make any more power than the Buell race slip on. The Buell pipe from everything I have seen is good for 3-5 hp tops. And thats if everything is dead nutz perfect. The latus is simply a reworked edelbrock import car muffler. |

It was an XB12R. I posted it's sheet over on the dyno sheet page. We hadn't tuned it up yet, that was literally the first pull. I don't think there's any other way to get 14 more horsepower out of an XB9 for the cost of that package. |

Where do you buy a D@D or a Wileyco? Aaron, any chance you and Brian will soon be selling other XB Buell exhaust options? If I'm spending I'd prefer my money go to you two. Maybe if Latus has a problem with supply you all can fill the niche. I know it would be power down from the Force system you guys sell, and I'm sure that is against company policy, but I think there is a market.

Rocky, I appreciate that, and always keep in mind that we are a Drag Specialties dealer and therefore we can get (usually quickly) and sell to you anything in their catalog. They have a bunch of Buell exhaust system stuff, although I'm not sure what if anything they have listed for XB's yet. I haven't contacted Latus or D&D about becoming dealers for them but if I have a customer show interest I'll certainly look into it. |

The Force exhaust is an awesome system. If you hear them on the sportsters at the drag strip ,you would know what im talking about. They have a distinct loud sound (much better than drag pipes). I had one on my sportster and loved it. I just think that the Latus has more of a sportbike kind of sound. Its not that top fuel dragster loud like the Force pipe. If I would not have ever heard the Latus muffler sound I probably would have jumped on the Force. As far as the latus not making any more power than the Buell race muffler, thats wrong. The difference is not great but my bike with the buell race ecm, air filter, and latus made almost 5 more hp than a bolt with the complete race kit on the same dyno on the same day. By the way, outfuckingstanding numbers on the 1200cc xb. Now that bike should give the new 600cc jap bikes a nice run for their money!!!!! |

I would tend to agree with that. The Buell race muffler is a joke, its barely louder than the stock unit..most likely exactly the same thing only with 2 outlets. Have seen a few dynos where folks were only getting 5-6 hp for the full Buell race kit. Thats pitiful for that amount of $$$.

T'si the fool who only focuses on peak HP for a street bike. The Buell "race" muffler does not boost peak HP a huge amount, but in the range from 5,000 rpm to redline it makes a world of difference in power delivery. You know, like if you were RACING. Show me another muffler that does better in that range and works with the stock or race ECM (no PC-III required). Show me a muffler that comes close for the same price. Can't find one can you. Didn't think so. Ain't such a bad deal is it? If you are looking for a RACE muffler that is. You may have forgotten that the race kits for the 1200cc Buells didn't boost peak HP at all. It's all about midrange and the trip to redline. You actually think the race muffler is the same as the stock can but with two tail pipes? Ohhhhh-kayyyyy. I keep forgetting, the entire world is shit to you. Never mind. |

Blake, have you heard anyone here raving about their "fetal pig" Buell race muffler? Most folks are always looking for D&D or latus or Force, etc. The few people who "might" be happy with probably bought one expecting more but are a little financially strapped & cant afford another $400-600 for what amounts to basically an empty tin can. Right off the bat the D&D appears to better the marks of the midrange over the "fetal pig". Show me a muffler that comes close for the same price You wont find a cheap muffler for the XB's, even the "fetal pig" is a little pricey for what you get. Gotta remember that the manufacturers wont end up selling 100,000 copies of the mufflers so they have to make their profit on a small run, this means the cost will obviously be higher. And if you want to go cheap there is a mod out there where you can open the stock muffler & reroute the gas flow & all it will cost you is some time & 2 minutes wirth of welding. |

Theres the way to modify your stock muffler & it will perform just as well if not better than the race exhaust & it wont cost anything except a little time. If someone wants to waste $400 be my guest, but I think this route is a great way to go. |
