I have tried searching and I found a bunch of threads that reference Y0198.1AK SOCKET, CIGARETTE LIGHTER W/HARNESS Does anyone have some pics of what is included? I am trying to see if this will work nicely on my R and CR. ac | ||

It's the panel-mount cig lighter socket, and about a 4" or 6" wiring pigtail that has the gray accessory connector on it so you can plug it right into a CR, R, or post-08 XB behind the flyscreen. Same plug the heated grip kit uses. | ||

Yea, look at a Ulysses flyscreen. Thats about all you need to see. Plugs right into the accessory plug. | ||

The plug itself had threads and a large nut-like thing on it. You simply need to make the hole. I ended up just leaving mine stuffed under the flysceen. | ||

Froggy, Silly question, if it is stuffed under the flyscreen how do you USE it? I plan on using the power port for multiple items (radar detector, gps, cell phone) depending on my exact needs/purpose. ac | ||

Currently I only got my phone charger plugged into it, as its the only device I have that uses a outlet instead of 12v lines. I then ran the other end of the charger along the other cables to a aquabox mounted on my clubmans. If I need to add more outlet devices later, I will get creative then, possibly lopping off the connector on the outlet and splicing it in with my current one. I need my phone charger 24/7, it is dead after about 2 or 3 hours depending on my use. | ||

After a few thousand miles of frustration, you will quickly determine that normal road vibrations, engine vibrations etc, will constantly cause whatever you have plugged into that spring loaded socket to disconnect. That's why the BMW type socket is soooo much better for an M/C application. I bought the socket assembly so i would have a plug to insert into the accy harness female socket on the bike's wiring harness. I just pitched the "cigarette plug". | ||

Over 5000 miles since putting the phone charger in my plug, it hasn't shaken out yet somehow. I have had other things vibrate out, and I was planning on using a large zip tie should the phone charger come out. Perhaps wheelies knock it back into place?  | ||

I had a 12v socket (normal power socket style) on my old bike for 20k miles and NEVER had something unplug. Maybe it is because I had it mounted veritcal? I know the Powerlet stuff is nice, but I don't want to convert everything over to that. ac | ||

If you want a cigarette style receptacle that is waterproof, look at Marinco. You can find them at your boat or RV shops. They have a seal for the plug and it locks into the receptacle and will not vibrate out. They are not inexpensive but neither are the BMW variety. | ||

ACV , i installed 1 on a CR, fit it in the headlight assy in the black plastic left side 1"hole,notch to index it, no drama. will see if i can post a pic tomorrow if i can, still have my cheap camera. | ||

It's not the headlight, it's a filler plate between the headlight, flyscreen, and instrument panel. IIRC, a $12 part. Buy a spare, drill the spare. | ||

Oh, that isn't actually part of the head light? When I looked at it, it seemed solid so I thought it was part of the headlight assembly. In that case...holes away! ac | ||

ACV, that is part of the headlight, Ratbuell,Froggy are looking it up are you looking in the 2010 catalog? that shows a filler piece to cover the slots that the lines went though w/ the low bars. ACV, i used the nut from the socket on the back side of the black plastic as a guide to make sure i had enough room for it to turn, made a center hole and enlarged it from there, just don't forget the indexing slot. my pic a little late  | ||

See, I was a little worried about drilling the headlight. That is an expensive piece and I am not sure I want to go drilling a hole in it. It does look really nice, and functional there. ac | ||

Bob, No, I did not cut it. I forgot it was back there but I decided not to cut it down. It made it a pain in the ass to put it on but it resulted in that rib acting as a stop for the retaining ring, ie, it will not loosen past that rib, so if the ring vibrates loose it won't go very far.
