If anyone has access to a DT and a 1125cr get the bike to normal operating temp and then look at the live data. My IAC motor is showing 100-150 steps and the normal range according to the DT is 5-55 or something like that. The reason I looked at this is because I think my bike idles high. It is about 1600-1700. The thing is my other 1125cr does the same thing! I took it to a buell dealer since I dont work at one and told them about it they didnt even look at the bike just ordered a new IAC which I dont even think may be the problem. What you guys think? |

Sounds like it's being commanded high for some reason. But with two doing it that is fairly strange, mine idled high during break in then dropped to 1300ish literally the next time I stopped after 620 miles. What are the odds they're under 620 miles? |

one has 200 the other 1100 miles |

Any of the temperature sensors reading cold at that point? It may be hanging in cold mode for some reason. What's the MAP and atmospheric pressure readings? It could be seeing a rich problem and trying to compensate. |

the iac and idle were the only 2 things that were showing out of range... i'll look again at the temp etc next time i ride it to work i just think it is real strange both bikes are doing it |

So what SHOULD the warm idle rpm's be? I also think mine idles high, but it just went in for it's 620 service and no changes - so... |

a tech i talk to had called tech service, they said it was normal if the charging sys is not putting out enough volt at lower rpms. true?i dont know but you may want to put a meter across the batt |

That last post rings true for me. My 08 R has ALWAYS idled around 1500 --- even after my bringing it in twice --- and has almost always shown the battery light fast --- even with a new cluster. I do run with the brights on. When I run lowbeams, the battery light stays off. Still, I don't think that should matter (and my tech agrees). I sure would like it to idle where it's supposed to though. Maybe I'll try lowbeams for a while . . . |

Mine idles at 1500 always. Anyone can see the IAC steps by starting the bike in diagnostic mode, right? I'll try it tomorrow and let you know what it reads. |

The charging high idle would make sence. I checked mine the other day 14 volts at 1250 idle. 2008 1125R |

You could check that out by warming it up then hooking up a charger and see what idle does. |

There is a 3-dimensional idle setpoint map that determines idle based on coolant temp and charging system voltage. Idle setpoint can be anywhere from 1150 to 1950 depending on conditions. |

OK now I'm wondering. Warmed up idling 1300ish my IAC climbed up to 230. Pop the throttle it would go to 150, then down to 70ish while it settled the idle out, then climb back to 230 or so. It's idling nice with no codes so I'll leave it be until I can get a manual. |

I just got my new 09 1125R,I noticed on a print out givern that my set idle was 1510rpm,actual 1574rpm,the stepper was 110 and batt volt was 14.36v.Coolant temp 80c.I asked my dealer and he told me similar data from another new 1125r,he suggested that the high idle may be set until a mileage is achieved? I will get the running in done as soon as english weather allows and see what data it shows then. (Message edited by colintornado on December 02, 2009) |

My 09 1125R has done this from new to be honest, has been reflashed twice since I got it and is no different, performance seems unaffected. I have the elec diag manual and recently had the opportunity to see the bike hooked up to the Harley tech unit, as noted above only the idle and the IAC were out of range, we have to have the lights on all the time here in the UK and although the bike is always on a battery tender when in my garage the voltage could have been a bit low from slow riding in the bad weather we had that morning. In the summer when using the bike as it was designed for the IAC came down to about 70 but I have never seen it lower.
