I need a little input on what to do. I have a solo seat on my 98 s1w and I want a twin tail so my wife can ride with me. I have done a few quick searches and they seem hard to find. I have the hardware for it, just need the seat and plastic. Does anyone have one or know where to get one? I am not in a huge rush but I will be buying it before spring time rolls around. I was also wondering if the 97 m2 tail section would fit. I'm sure thats wishful thinking but it broadens my search if it fits. Also, when she does ride with me now and I hit a bump the license plate touches the tire. She isn't very heavy at all so I was wondering if my shock is bad or if I am missing something in the adjustment of it (All recall work has been done). And the last thing is, has anyone went with a smaller headlight and taken off the windscreen. I saw where someone put on a Vrod headlight and I really like that look. If anyone can recommend a particular light that will mount up and wire up fairly easily I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your input. |

I was also wondering if the 97 m2 tail section would fit. They will not. See if this helps. I'd also suggest you have your Buell dealer search inventory around the country.

Thanks man. Do you know, before I call, what I can expect to pay for both? And, what is the likelihood that someone with a twin on there bike would trade me. I hate to because I would like to be able to go back and forth but money is tight. |

Doesn't mean they have the part, which I gurantee you they do not. I rummaged through their entire Buell stock one day. Had a couple of S2 stuffs, an X1 select seat in black, tons of other stuff but I never saw an S1 twin tail seat. They did have a new over the frame 2" stock exhaust. |

My local dealer Bumpus HD found the seat at a dealer out of state but did not find any tail plastic. I may have to find someone who wants a solo saddle and swap with them. I even emailed Sport Twin and he thinks he might have a seat and said the plastics come up on ebay but I have not seen one on ebay for a long time. Has anyone done the small headlight with no fairing? |

>>>Doesn't mean they have the part, which I gurantee you they do not. I'd check Buell. They were making them not very long ago. |

Nathan, I've got a twin tail seat that I might be willing to trade for your stock seat. I'll send you an email. >>>I was also wondering if the 97 m2 tail section would fit....They will not. Actually, not QUITE true. As with anything, where there's a will there's a way. I saw a white S1W on ebay about a year ago and the owner had grafted an early Cyclone tail section and seat onto it. It looked pretty decent. He stated that it required some minor frame mods that could be reversed. Probably not something that I would do or recommend, but it has been done. |

Wow! I like that twintail seat! Mine doesn't have that pronounced of a step in it. Just when I thought I was done spending money... |

Alright, a possible change of plans. I have a good friend who works for a company that makes plastic, CF, and fiberglass parts for race cars. He thinks he can duplicate the twin tail seat using my stock solo as a model. FOR FREE. 1st question are they the same length with the only exception being the cutout for the seat. Being that he is in the profession of making custom parts do you think it would be possible to make a custom seat pan that I could have padded and upholstered? If you guys have any input, lay it on me. |

They are not the same size, the twintail is longer. |

Yeah I realized that after I made that post but couldn't get back to a computer to correct myself. Maybe it's a good time to think up a nice custom tail section. If it materializes I will keep you guys posted and do what I can to make sure I can duplicate it easily in case someone here likes it and would want one. Thanks for all of your input |

The funny part about that bike is it was a twintail when I bought it, and I spent a few hundred converting it to single and gave away the twintail. Sorry Nathan! LOL |

Matt, I almost asked you what happened to the twin tail for it but since I didn't see it in your garage I figured it went down the road. 98s1lightning PM on its way. |
