Mine was one of these "ordered" buells. It has a manuf date of May 2009. The service dude told me that all these bikes got shipped from East Troy to the York plant where they were fully updated including new batteries. Seems like a stretch to me. But in a separate conversation though with the tech that set up the bike, he told me it came out of the crate with the latest flash when he hooked it up the computer.

Whatever. It's in my garage and I love it.

Whatever...

We ordered 9 bikes Tuesday 20Oct when Buell said to order them on VOM, each had names and deposits, reportedly giving them priority over dealers just purchasing spec bikes. We continued to take deposits and enter orders for more for about ten more days.

The week following the initial order placement we were confirmed just two.

Ever since then we have heard nothing to even suggest we would be getting any of the others. We have since gone as far as 700 miles to pick up dozens of bikes from other dealers to fill our needs.

This week we received two more of our initial ordered bikes from Buell, those buyers having since been put on bikes we went after.

Buell may know precisely what they built, but they should let Harley's VOM ordering system know so dealers don't look stupid to our paying customers.

This is especially true when, say, we talk a buyer into a black CR who really wanted a red one because we wouldn't be getting any red ones anymore. Then he comes in for his 620 mile break-in service and sees us uncrating a red one.

Black cr's are so much more evil looking than red. Though a white 2010 would be better.

Those RR-1000s always were a unique piece.

An RR collection? hmm.. Who slipped me the kool-aid? I'm starting to want one of everything.

On the road for the holiday . . I'd suspect thr RR to be in the $40,000 to $50,000 range. Tough to say.

The big draw on this one is that it has 72 miles. Perfect and comes with an interesting carbon fiber tank.

It had a complete set on N.I.B. Bodywork that I mentioned a while back and a Badwebber promptly purchased.

I was WRONG. . . . my memory is fading.

The Carbon Fiber tank . . . along with a complete New In The Box set of RR-1000 bodywork was sold to a BadWebber about 6 weeks ago.

The CURRENT RR-1000 has a fresh repainted perfect factory body on it . . . and the same Badwebber is about to break down and buy it.

: )

It'll be well cared for.

Just like to point out my comment was the surprise. I remember not so long back when twenty k dollars tops was a lot to expect, and in recession hit wherever, the classic vehicle market has seen some big dives. Well done that RR.

Okay, what I have is the carbon fiber tank the RR1000 owner had made some years back, along with a set of bodywork that has been re-sprayed in the correct pattern and colors. Also, last week I picked up a set of modified lowers and "spats" (the piece between the lowers and seat) from an RR1200, not original but will allow for latitude in what it all goes on and which engine goes in.

The plan is to finally get to Bonneville with a Buell, this year. Period. Fly the flag until we know what's happening with future products from E. Troy. Keep the brand in race venues. And just last week the technical questions I've carried for a few years were answered. The right chassis can carry a variety of engines and, hopefully, be in position to set some records. Buells are great racing bikes and the RR bodywork is the benchmark for slippery in production fairings. Sorry, haven't decided what class or classes are on the program. I have a good idea, just no final decision.

A man needs a hobby to keep himself out of mischief. So, I've got some engine choices to make. And a set of Marzocchi M1R forks in the garage that need seals, same model as what came on the RRs. The bodywork will best fit on the RS and RSS models, if no RR comes up to use for racing. And while the RR1000 of which Court has written is an absolute museum piece, mint, and waaay too nice to take out racing, what with only those few miles, the frame only takes the early 4-speed motors. I've seriously considered a 1991 to 1992 RS, just for the 18-inch wheels and ability to use 5-speed motors. Anyway, the clock is ticking on next years racing season . . . .

I've spoken twice today to the RR1000 owner. Real nice guy. If a serious buyer is interested, it's best to contact him through Court. As a former collector, my jaundiced eye tells me the bike is as good as anyone will ever find.

I started a new business venture last week and have to decide between funding it or buying this RR with my mad money. Will one of you please save me from my self by buying it??

It will have to remain on the someday list for me. I lusted after that bike back then with all it's bodywork. Even RR-1200 is rarely seen.

I'm going to have to get Court's book and read up.

Saw this on another forum. It has already been sold though. I believe it was up for sale for only $7,000 on craigslist.

So, back to the original topic of this thread, was the "500 additional 2010 Buells originally intended for Japan soon to be available in the U.S." rumor BS or not?
