The Buells did incur a weight penalty in Sportbike during the middle of the season.

The Buells never had to add a single pound to their race bikes. When the season started, the Buells were given a weight advantage according to the rules - compared to the other twins. Half way through the season, DMG moved the weight limit for the Buells back to where it was for the other twins. The rules changed, but the weight of the Buells never got any heavier because they always weighed 390+ lbs.}}

Guys- I'm sure some people are going to get confused with this thread. The topic was the 1125RR which competes in Superbike. Most of the discussion is about the 1125R which competed (mostly) in Daytona Sportbike. The arguments about the allegedly unfair displacement advantage and the weight changes apply only to the 1125R's used in the Sportbike class.

That is incorrect. Eslick's Buell weighed 397 lbs at Daytona. Later in the year it weighed 422 lbs.

If you don't believe me then you need to go back and watch the entire season and see how Eslick's bike got progressively heavier.

Really? RMR didn't realize that 397 lbs is heavier than 380 lbs, so they decided to add more weight to bring it up to 422 lbs? Wow, maybe they should have studied arithmetic in school.}}

Don't mean to continue off topic, but the weight is measured as the bike comes off of the track. This includes fuel. There is always going to be some variation depending on how well the fuel consumption was calculated to determine how much to start with.

The sad part is that we won't be having these discusions next season....unless EBR has some tricks up his sleeve. We can only hope.

Fmaxwell posted.."Yes, it looks like it. You need to do a bit of research. Not much. Just a very tiny amount uncovers this AMA Competitor Bulletin:"

I know all about the bulletin from earlier this year. Maybe you should go back and read my post. My point was that you made it sound like they had to add weight to the bike and it screwed up the handling and slowed it down. ..."DMG put weight penalties on it, forcing it to lug around more weight, compromising both acceleration and handling."
That's just not the case. From everything I have heard and read, the bike wasn't at that minimum weight anyway and that was the point of my post.
