I was riding in a parking lot, and i got backed into... Wondering how much it would cost sans insurance getting involved (Im covered, and so is the lady) All damage is left side, im not hurt thanks for asking. Mirror broke off, left side (heard it was $87) Engine case cover is scraped up, left side (called and was quoted at $270 for the part) Left scoop ($60) The clutch lever is scratched (i know, im a baby, but I want her to be shiney) the swingarm little plastic nub is half worn down (and I wasent even hit hard!) and the rear beltgaurd had a chip come off it (only way I can describe it) The only thing I cant change myself is the engine cover, because you pull that off and its a whole new can of worms. How much would it cost to get one of those things jobbed back on at the stealership? |

If it wasn't for that plastic nub, it would have been a swingarm. I'm glad you're ok. |

Go get an estimate. If the lady who backed into you is paying, give her a copy of the estimate. I would call your insurance company to tell them what happened. Don't make a claim, just inform them that you were in an accident. Does the lady admit fault? |

+1 if the other driver admits fault, let her insurance pay to have it done. Just have it done on her insurance's tab, let her rates climb a bit, and maybe that'll help her pay enough attention not to hit the next motorcycle. I can dream... |

Note the part about their being a charge for the estimate. Not all shops do it free for you. Make sure the shop is willing to bill her. Shops have a different rate (higher) for insurance companies. |

Is the lady offering to pay out of pocket? I would tell lady she can pay for estimate and pay out of pocket (then you do work pocket $) meanwhile report to your insurance agent. If she doesn't like the estimate you can still go through the insurance. My sons car got hit A few months ago and the dad of the other driver came over helped my fix the rear bumper and gave my son A few hundred bucks. But then again that's the beater car so another dent didnt bother me. |

Have any of you tried to get the other persons insurance to pay? I have and it's not worth the trouble. Make a claim with your insurance and let your insurance company go after the money from her insurance. I guess it depends on the insurance company, but some of them are not going to pay until absolutely necessary. They need time to investigate the accident, that's what they like to say. |
