That belt lacks teeth and a fixed tensioner, so it would be harder to do on the Buell if doable at all. : )

that's prettty kewl, but you won't find me giving it a go. i see a damaged belt, and missing finger tips being the outcome.

You know what we call mechanics who do that?

Stumpy.

At my age, I've seen a lot of mechanics missing fingers. Quite a few lost theirs changing belts.

I've bumped engines over to put kicked belts back on before but that guy is asking for it.

Also that belt is loose as piss anyway. I'd like to see him try it with a properly adjusted belt.

That was the other thing I thought about later. There's an adjuster there that got to be set.

Actually on an air cooled VW there are shims that go between the generator pulley halves to set the pitch diameter. : )

I remember you had to go back after a bit of driving to double-check the tension.

Learned my first bit about consumer law on that operation.

Me: It's a left hand thread.

Mechanic: What do you know kid. buzzz, snap

Me: Fix it.

Owner: We fixed it. Pay up.

Me (driving away after calling legal aid): Catch me.
