Either you guys haven't heard of this site or too damn busy riding your bike. Track your MPG easily with this site.

I want to see what kind of MPG you are getting.

I know this is gonna come off wrong, but what's new. Why do u care about your gas mileage on a bike like the 1125? I hope you didn't buy it for economy. I like to see low MPG as it means the bike is being ridden as intended.

Now if you are one of those Prius owners trying to save the world....i guess it would be something different

Well when you have a 140 mile commute, you usually don't like to stop for gas twice a day. A small change in MPG makes a big difference. I was thinking about this app if I can run it on my iPhone 3Gs.

Yep, and on that 53mpg tank, I went over 220 miles before the gas light even came on : )

If you like to waste your money and keep the fuel economy in the single digits, then knock yourself out, after all, you are only hurting yourself : )

B4 the TH and updated map I was getting a steady 40mpg. With my ST1300 I get ~50mpg and with 7.7 gal, well you do the math. It's getting the ST time of year anyway with it's better weather protection.

Damn. I get 30 like a clock. Most of my stuff is stop and go, sub 50-60 mph. And I kinda screw up the power to weight ratio on anything but a pickup truck...

<grin>

Ah, well!

Well there are lots of reasons why one would want to track their MPG.

1. Find out where the best Fuel is (low MPG = bad gas)
2. Change in fuel mixture (winter vs summer blend)
I usually see a 20% drop in MPG on my cars during winter, except my TDI
3. Find out what ECM update improved your fuel economy
4. Find out how good your engine is running compared to others.
5. Proof to the dealer that your bike has been running poorly as seen by the low MPG.
6. Proof that the boiling fuel spitting out the vent tube affects MPG ; )
7. Lets you know which routes use more gas.

Wow. With all those variables, my brain would blow up trying to figure it out. I'll stick to my personal explanation of lower MPG...I must be going faster.

Isn't that the truth, Ozzie. Gotta love people who buy a "green" vehicle that has a larger negative impact on the environment over its lifetime than a Hummer

If I want fuel economy, I'll drive my smart fortwo convertible and get about 40mpg. If I want speed, I'll ride my Buell and get about -- well whatever it gets it gets. If I want handling in a car, I'll drive my Miata and get about 28mpg. And if I need to haul a lot of people, stuff, or to tow something, I'll drive my Yukon and be happy if I get 16mpg.

If one of you guys with an '09 1125R/CR is upset about the fuel economy, I've got an XB12Ss I'll trade you even for. It gets about 48mpg with my none-too-gentle riding style.

If I am thinking of MPG I will buy a cruiser or something. I like riding my CR at WOT! It sounds better that way : )

My initial argument was not about getting the highest MPG, but rather why not many people are tracking them on fuelly or other sites. Please track your MPG on fuelly so all of us have a baseline to compare against.

this misconception based on a paper written by a college student has been proven over and over to be incorrect. i'm surprised people are still referring to it.

Just a guess....no one cares. It's a given that MPG will suck with the Helicon. And that's okay!

Hmm, I get in the 38-45 mpg range. With the TH map and pipe I'm down in the low 30's. This is being fixed. In the mean while I'll run the stock ECM and suffer some reduced power.

BTW, I try and run straight gas not 10% ethanol.

It doesn't have to suck, I still have fun and enjoy the crap out of mine, and return 40mpg without trying. When I do hypermile, it gets about/excedes 50mpg : )

Froggy, I must be running inferior gas then cause I can't get more than 30 miles per gallon...and I don't need no stinkin' computer to tell me that!
