There is a snap ring on the fork tube. The fork tube is meant to be slid into the upper triple tree until the snap ring contacts the bottom of the top triple tree. |

On my XB forks, I lowered the legs in the tree about as far low as they would go. Helped me get a bit more ground clearance. I've ridden like that for several thousand miles with no ill effects. |

I dropped the tubes on my CR 1 cm, hoping to slow the steering a bit. The results were not what I expected. Straight line stability on smooth pavement improved a bit, but the steering is still way fast. My bike goes from initial understeer to whippity quick and wobbly like turning on a light switch. I have softened the compression rebound and preload on both ends in a systematic manner. I have played a bit with the pressures in the Corsa IIIs, and done a cursory check on the steering head bearings. Is it just me being unfamiliar with the Buell or does anyone else feel their new ride is a bit unstable? It seems to be better at higher speeds and in greater radius turns, but bumpy or wavy roads and lower speeds are really giving me the wiggles. No such trouble on my well sorted SV with Conti Road Attacks. |
