Thought that maybe a few of you would like to pencil this into your schedule. 100 years of Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. 20 years of the Harley owners group 14th Annual Illinois State Harley owners group Rally June 6,7,8 Quincy, Illinois Schedule of Events Friday June 6th Registration noon -8pm Oakley Lindsay Civic Center (OLC) Vendors noon - 10 OLC Self Guided Tours noon -5 Quincy Area Poker Walk 1pm - 5pm Historic Business District Poker Run 1pm - 5pm start OLC Biker Movies 2pm - ??? Holiday Inn Biker Bingo 4pm - 6pm OLC Rally Reception 8pm - ???? OLC AMA Flattrack Races 8pm - ???? Quincy Raceways. I think these races cost $15. but for those interested, the price of ANY beverage at the raceways is $3 for a 32oz cup. I hope they keep it this way for the event. Saturday June 7th registration noon - 8pm olc vendors 9am - 10pm olc poker run 10am - 4pm starts at olc self guided tours allday field events 1pm - 4pm olc rally parade 5:30 pm TNT Harley Davidson/Buell Ride in Bike Show 7pm clat adams park(quincy riverfront) awards and prizes 9pm clat adams park(quincy riverfront) STREET PARTY 8pm Clat Adams Park featuring Pork and the Havana Ducks (blues and Rock&Roll band) ZWARTE 10 pm Backwaters NightClub (right across the street from Clat Adams Park) This Band plays every year at Sturgis and are a very good Rock and Roll Band. It Usually cost $15 when they are in town. Backwaters is a million dollar night club built in the middle of a town of 50,000. So to say that it is extremely impressive for a small town is an understatement! The Dock. I am assuming they will be having bands or activities either during the day or evening. They have posted no info at this point. This is the local Harley Bar. It is right on the riverfront right next to all the other events. it is unimpressive to look at, but usually a great time! It has an outdoor beergarten and stage. Sunday June 8th Blessing of the Bikes 8:30am OLC closing comments 9am OLC There is more info at: www.ilstatehogrally.com} |

DaveS and Keith - Thanks! Keith, I'll let you know about the HOG rally, but I may have company for most of June which may preclude our heading out. |

>I really want to pick up the new scooter... And pick it up he did. Silver. Quiet. fast. Bright. NeilS new ride is purple, loud, fast and bright Too cool. (oh, and Donnelson's has marked down their '02 998 to $14.5 from $18k now that they have 4 999s and a 749 on the floor.) |

Blaster420 (Ben) from Fort Madison IA was in Quincy this weekend. We went exploring NE MO trying to put together a route for Saturday during the Harley Rally. I think we found a few really good ones. I need to go explore a couple more and see if I can get it all pieced together for that weekend. I'll post some more details as I find them. Here's an example of one. Hope some of you can make it up for at least the Saturday ride we are planning. Keith p.s. it appears that Shazam (Sam), Cyclone1 (Frank) and Blaster420 (Ben) are allready committed for coming this weekend. Paul is a probable. Unfortunately Josh and Dave have other commitments that weekend. Drop me a line if anyone else is interested. Sorry, I guess I didn't explain that well. This weekend, May 3rd, Ben was in the Quincy Area and we went exploring roads in an attempt to put together a route for people that are coming to the Harley Rally. I am planning a ride on June 7th for the people that are here for the Rally or those that just want to ride here for the day and ride/hangout with the people that are allready here for the rally. Josh, If you are interested in coming up and helping me explore several of the local roads in preparation of the rally, please let me know. It would really help having others opinions and assistance in puting together an enjoyable route for those that are attending the rally. thanks Keith

Hey Keith, I had a fun ride home today, earned some Badweather Wings I think. Here is a pic of those trailers. the web site for them is http://www.mostateparks.com/wakonda.htm they are nice campers and sleep 4 semi-comfortable. And I must say this road is going onto my favorite rides for sure. I work next weekend, but the weekend after I might be able to make some time for testing. Ben |

Ben, I was thinking about your ride home this morning when I saw all those storms role through this area. Glad to see you made it back to Fort Madison in good shape. Hope you didn't get too wet! thanks for the offer, drop me a line when we get a little closer to the weekend you are available. We need to hook up and head south and meet up with the rest of the STL guys sometime, like we talked about this weekend. They really, really have some beautiful roads down there. I just try to persuade them into coming up to my area at least once a year. plus you stil have to meet the living legends! Racerboy and V2Win. Its worth the ride, just so you too can say you saw them disappear into the horizon! After we get the route designed, maybe we can convince them to come up at least for the day and be our tour guides. It just wouldn't seem like a true Buell ride without them! Keith p.s. Bob, glad to here that you got your new ride!! (Message edited by gravedigger on May 04, 2003) |

Hey guys, I arrived back home about 1am today. I did not make the HSTA ride down in Arkansas. Instead, I went down to Louisville, Ky. to see my grandkids. All were born between April4 and May 23, so I just make one showing for all. Bring/buy gifts, say I love you's and all are happy. Well, until Xmas anyway. As I was going into Ky. on I64, I saw this huge electronic sign board that the interstate goes under. Since it was Derby weekend, I expected some message about the race. But no. Instead it read: "SHARE THE ROAD, WATCH FOR MOTORCYLES'. The state of Ky is thinking of us. Kind of nice I thought. Well, I think I have ironed out all the little problems in the new engine. No more pre detonation, lots of torque, and the jetting seems to be spot on. Im a happy camper. The last dyno run we made before it broke was 109hp and 103 tq. I have not been able to get it back on since I did the head work and changed pistons again, but it seems to be making more power now than then. Some day when Kevin has the time I plan on making a run just to see what it is. Its is sure more fun to ride now. DAve, those bags are for a 99 and up bike. Look at the pic real close. The hinges are a giveaway. Orange/blue, green/yellow, red/white, you da man. Blaster, You'r riding my favorite color and model. Nice. You have bags for it? You and Keith be sure to make it down here this summer so you can scrape off some of the pegs. (Message edited by V2win on May 04, 2003) |

This has been a tough weekend...It started out just fine with Shirl driving me up to Niehaus Saturday morning...I picked up the ST, did my breakin routine and took it right back for an oil and filter change...As you know my plan was to ride down to Huck's stopping at the house to pick up what I had packed...Awaiting me was a message that my cousin, Greg, who had been in the ICU at St Louis U Hospital was to be taken off life support as soon as his daughter could arrive from KY...Long, long story short, Greg was taken off the vent at 0100 Sunday morning and died at 0530...It was just four or five weeks ago that he was told he had a lymphoma and due to some underlying health problems, hepetitis C and liver damage, he could not take the chemo treatments for this normally highly treatable cancer...We last rode together to the Supercross the evening of March 22 and we spoke after the ride...His last ride was by himself about two weeks ago...His wife, Leigh wanted to go but he wouldn't let her as he didn't feel strong enough...The kidney's became involved late this past week and that pretty much determined that it would be very quick...It was very peaceful at the end... Josh, you'll understand why I didn't call you back yesterday...I cought the front end of the weather system riding home from the hospital this morning...Greg would have loved it as he made his "older" cousin ride in the rain by hanging on all night...I had to grin a bit inside the lid... Thanks, Bob |

Greg wanted his motorcycle family to get together to remember and tell old road stories...So we will, tomorrow, after the funeral, we're going to roll a few of his bikes into the Filling Station at Lemp and Pestalozzi starting at about 1500...There will be food and drink and lot's of "interesting" riders with lot's of stories...His old club buddies are coming in from as far away as CA...Friends made in riding are friends forever... See Ya! Bob |

Keith...I finally was able to put your route on my mapping software last night and it's about 242 miles so plan on at least five hours and probably more like six and a half to socialize...It looks like a good one as you're mostly staying off main roads...You may want to indicate where gas is available and the approx mileage and also any interesting points along the way...A pre ride as close to the actual ride is always good...Just ask John and I sometime how our pre ride ended up with us "lost" in the dirt and gravel of the Mark Twain National Forest for hours... Have Fun! Bob |

Thanks Bob!! On the day that I am planning this ride there is nothing really going on at the rally except a poker run and vendors. I figured most of the Buellers would rather be out exploring backroads. I tried to design it so that if anyone wants to head back or something goes wrong we are a maximim of around 1 hr from Quincy. The next scheduled event that day is the Street party which starts at 8pm. So we will have plenty of time to ride during the day. If everyone gets a little tired of riding we can break off the route and get back here pretty quickly. We would really like to see you and John come up for at least the day if you can manage it! thanks for looking it over and running the program on it. You and your family will be in our thoughts tommorrow. Keith |
