Those that have installed the second scoop. How much has it lessened the heat on your legs and privates?

if you are worried about that particular regions temps you may also look up special ops and pick up a heat barrier from Odie, mine is coming soon.

Gbaz and Steelerbike,

I can tell you firsthand that the heat barrier from Spec Ops is worth every penny.

My right butt cheek used to get really hot around town or on long rides and the barrier significantly reduces the temps as far as my butt is concerned. Much more tolerable.

I want to get the smaller and larger scoops myself to see if I can further reduce the temps. It is on my "list" of bike parts.

Odie also makes a heat barrier that goes around the airbox to prevent excess heat from getting pulled back into the intake. I want this one as well.

My .02 for what its worth...

Here is just a little info regarding the smaller RSS. I took my 07 XB12SCG out on Sunday in 88 degree weather with high humidity. I did my normal run with a little extra highway in the beginning and the fan never came on till about 20 minutes of back road and then 5 min of traffic. This was a lot longer than normal especially in these conditions. I was constantly checking my oil temp to see when the fan would come on (usually around 185F). The temp was hovering around 180-185 but never came on till I had to pull over and remove a bug from the inside of my helmet. The fan did stay on for the 40 minute ride home which didn't surprise me due to the heat. The bike still ran hot but a little cooler than normal on the right thigh. I also wanted to see how much of a difference it really made so doing about 50 I reached down and covered the scoop with my hand. I immediately felt a lot of heat on my right thigh and in the seat area. I then took my hand off and the heat went away. I was amazed at how much cooler the riding conditions changed once it got air. So all in all it's probably the best $16.00 I ever spent on the bike.

That's cool to hear (pun intended)

I just ordered the little guy today from my dealer.
There's a good chance that it'll be here Thursday or Friday.

Next I gotta figure out how to get that header shield without having to get the whole comfort kit since I have zero interest in or need of the big scoop and fan shroud (shroud wouldn't fit my bike anyway).

I have the part# for it but it doesn't come up on the dealer's network yet. All we could find was the whole comfort kit.

I was wondering about the heat barrier for under the seat. Is it any worse for the ECM and other components under there cuz if the heat isnt getting out then its staying in there with them right?

Wow, that's a good question Runswithlighting. I never thought about that. I myself am looking into trying to keep the heat off my seat. =) Maybe in combination with the addition of the right scoop and the heat barrier the ECM might be ok. How much is the right scoop for the XB12R anyone

You can install the scoops without removing the seat. No need to play with the wiring.
