Pretty easy bike to work on... Took a bit over an hour with the K&N. Could not get the old exhaust off when I realized that the oil cooler bracket (knew about the front exhaust bolts) on the left side was keeping it from coming off... And they did not supply bolts for the oil cooler...I think the single bolt they provided may have gone through the bracket on the pipe and onto the bike...But it was not long enough to include the oil cooler bracket. I had a couple of longer bolts / nuts that worked perfectly. Could not start it to hear it...Late here and kids are sleeping! More pics tomorrow in the daylight. I need to add that I bought this on EBAY for $385 SHIPPED including the K&N. A pretty cheap gamble to see how it works! (Message edited by zracer196 on November 17, 2009) |

For some reason...They do not include a second clamp...And say specifically to install the single clamp provided on the INSIDE header pipe ony. They exhaust fits VERY tight. It really took some strength to fit the header pipes into the HMF mid pipe. Could not run it...Kids sleeping. Tomorrow morning. |

Sounds really good...But on the loud side. Not too crazy since I raced for 12+ years and am used to all sorts of full race systems. Louder than the 996 with slip-ons and also louder than the Tuono I had with slips...Of course 2 cans versus this shorter single can! |

Yep...only one clamp required. The collector is very well supported to the engine. Mike |

Beat me to it. I am waiting on mine (same deal off eBay). I ordered what they call the "quiet core" to tone mine down a few dba. We'll see. Can you post up the size and length of the bolt I'll need that is not supplied? Looks good! Your bike is so clean. (Message edited by mountainstorm on November 18, 2009) |

Just use on of the other original's that are not required when you remove the original exhaust. Sounds fecking awsome in my opinion, best sounding exhaust ive ever heard link to video's here - http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=290431&post=1648664#POST1648664 (Message edited by avalaugh on November 18, 2009) |

im currently putting on this exhaust now....had to drop the oil cooler to remove the bracket, was a royal pain... Quick question though, I am having issues putting the collector y pip onto the stock headers....it seems like the bracket might be off by half an inch or so....how much did you have to tug on your stock headers to get everything to line up?? many thanks. matt. |

Just rode it...RUNS GREAT! At least seat of the pants...No plans for any tuning...But I want to verify the AF ratio is safe...I wanted to gain sound / looks but not lose power or reliability. |

Just checked the AFV's...105 front and rear. The same as before the short ride I took with the exhaust and K&N. Does it take a while to change? It has not changed at all over the last 50 miles or so... Thanks! |

Looks good, mine should be here soon. How long did it take for delivery? I went with the brushed aluminum, I didn't want the CF end caps that the other similarly priced options offered. (Message edited by macchiato on November 18, 2009) |

I've been seeing that deal on Ebay, how does this HMF exhaust compare to the FMF? Ready to pull the trigger on one of these. |

Went ahead and made my order with these guys, the guy on the phone said the deal they have with HMF is ending on the 21st so I'm guessing the price will be going up. |

I'm considering the HMF also. I'm on the fence as far as getting the black or the aluminum finish. My concern is that the black will discolor or fade but my bike is black...I guess I'm thinking out loud but any opinions are welcomed! |

Thanks guys for all the compliments! lol She has dealt with my motorcycle problem (over 30 in the last 10 years) well! lol I always tell her I could be trading wives! I like the exhaust...More the money...It is hard to beat. It is loud...But not obnoxious and not loud (to the rider) when riding it. I was worried about drone, etc. No problem there! I liked the black...But I think that is just preference! I also was thinking about a traditional tip that could me mounted so it turns out to the side...Not sure on that one... |

Tbone - I've had mine (black) on for about 3000 miles so far. No fading. And for what it may be worth....the engine will run MUCH better with some additional fuel and ignition timing from that dreaded aftermarket computer program. I used a torch to heat the HMF collector and spread the tubes. I didn't want the load on the header tubes. This is the only problem I found with the HMF system. Mike |
