Has anyone had the low fuel light & corresponding f-trip not work on their new 1125R?

I was around the 160mi point on the odo & waiting for the low fuel light to come on so I could get a feel for the range of the fuel tank then...

The check-engine light came on & the bike sputtered to a stop. Confused I cycled the instrument cluster (ignition) off then on & the engine light cleared like normal. Started the bike, & in about .5mi the exact same thing happened. So i called my dealer, not wanting to start the bike after 2 consecutive ENGINE trouble lights. They came & picked me up with their trailer, took the bike to the dealer, filled it with gas & snap... no more engine trouble light. So I rode it home, but they've got some warranty work to do on the low fuel light.

Anyway, I got two "free" tanks of gas, and have had no other issues with the bike, like some of the ones I've read about here (fuel drip, clutch weep, etc.)

Has anyone else had any similar fuel light issue with their 1125's?

My 08 at 40k miles is not longer dependable for low fuel light.

I just fill up every 3 sessions.

40k, very nice, what's the milage expiration on the 1125R, 2 years or ????? miles?

To me this is not acceptable on a new bike. Never had any problems with my XB12R.

Maybe I'll get a 09 instrument cluster out of this!

Standard warranty on the 1125r is two years. My factory warranty is up in December this year.

I bought an additional 2 years based on the number of problems the bike has had/is starting to have.

Its the sensor in the fuel pump. You need the entire fuel pump replaced, its a full day job. Its a common issue on the european CR's. Same happened to mine!

My sensor works, it's just out of range.
Cold mornings, I get LFL and CEL regardless how much fuel in tank.
LFL sets properly tho with .8-1 gal left in the tank.

waiting for a new fuel pump also.

Darn, thought I was the only guy who had 40,000 miles.

I've been having the same experience as Zac. It seems to happen when the ambient temperature is low.

My fuel light comes on consistently and reliably. I only ran out of gas once and that was a long time ago.

Andros is correct, there is a problem with the sensor located in the fuel pump. I had this problem on my '08 1125R. Left me stranded.

Hey thanks for the help guys! Now I have something to discuss with the techs at the dealer. This is the first I'm hearing of this problem.

Though I'm going to replace the tire on my XB12R before I lay up my 1125R since I don't want to be without a bike & its safer to live without a fuel light than tire tread.

Removing the front wheel on my XB12R however will be its own little project. The inner race of the front wheel bearing is corroded solid to the axle, making it just about impossible to get the axle out of the wheel. Looking at dropping the forks out of the triple clamps then taking the wheel somewhere to have the bearing pressed apart from the axle, or just buying new wheel bearings & axle.

The latter problem is unfortunately no longer under warranty so I will take that one on myself!

Spray some penetrating oil on the axle and bearing, when you unscrew the axle it will force itself out of the bearing some, once the oil gets in there it should help free it up.

Sknight, done that, a few times, no joy.
And I don't really like the resulting spreading of my forks when I do that.
Can't figure it out, bike's been garaged. I ride in the rain on occasion but never store it outside. Though that tire has been on there for a long time since I spent over half of the last two years at sea. The Navy can sure put a damper on your riding habits. But still even it its been 2 years since that wheel was off, it shouldn't rust that fast.

I got a new fuel pump on my 1125CR this morning. The tech took 2½ to 3 hours. The bike ran fine on the way home and on the way to and from work.

Well since you got your pump i hope that means my dealer got the pump i have been waiting for... its only been 2.5 weeks.

I guess i need to call and see whats going on with it.
