Can any of our 2010 model year riders comment on the operation of the new fuel pump. Particularly helpful if you have experience with the previous pumps. It is stated that the 2010s have a fuel pump and pressure sensor derived from the 1125 fuel pump. I see a few comments on fuel smell on some 1125s (not sure if it is year specific). Any of this smell carrying forward to the 2010 XBs? Might it be that this different fuel pump is involved in the minimal fan operation at key off? |

The comfort kit that came on 2010's is why the fan does not operate (much) at key off. The kit can be added to any Uly, but only the 08's and 09's can get the ECM update that changes the fan operation. |

I just had the update done to my 09 Uly and fan is off when I stop at lights and turn the bike off, starts again at around 25kph my bike runs much cooler now and I don't have the comfort kit fitted...The frame rail doesn't burn my leg anymore! It's summer too here in Australia so good test for the heat!!! Reflash Part number: Y0152.1AM Calibration Id: M31AU271 |

Froggy, do you know if that price is much different from say a 2006 fuel pump? Regarding the fan operation, the fan operation at power-off was supposed to prevent vapor lock (starting problems) caused by hot or vaporized fuel in the line. I thought that maybe the new pump also had helped eliminate vapor lock and in conjunction with the comfort kit removed the need for fan operation at power-off. |

I don't see the old pump listed anymore.... (P0130.02A8A) Anyway off the top of my head it was $300 (Message edited by froggy on November 18, 2009) |

I remember reading somewhere (can't find it now) that the new fuel pump plays a part in reduced fan operation. IIRC it will tolerate higher fuel temperatures so the fan doesn't have to run as long after shutdown (if it runs at all). |

Like I said above, I just had the re flash on my 09 and my fan is off when I shut the bike down now as opposed to running for up to 4 minutes before the re flash. I never had to buy a new fuel pump! |
