There is so much cool stuff that goes on behind closed doors. What about the Taz bike? Nobody ever heard anything about that project. Aerocharger and a xb? It got killed too. Court did u ever ride one of those?? |

Not really, other than a lot of the race motor "1125RR" went in to it. Thats where a lot of R&D is done, along with test riders for real world stuff. If it holds on the track it will hold the street, that's not always the case though. |

It would have never made it to production after the warranty analysis was done. It would have got the ax like all the rest of the "cool stuff". That and a handful of other things is what did in "Tasmanian Devil" bike. |

Turbocharged XB12R, had a turbo hanging off the side. Turbo was made by aerocharger and was fitted to the 12 and 9 if I remember correctly. Cool project but never made it. |

>>>>Also whose the lucky guy on the bike that gets to ride it??? There were plenty of them being ridden . . . . I've never heard anything from the folks at Buell but there were a number of them begin tested and the project was essentially complete . . . an amazing new test protocol (can't say Buell didn't learn a lot from the 1125R roll out) and it'd been in dealers showrooms before the next 100o weather if my guess is correct . . . Don't think the way this project was run didn't makes some folks up the road who were running another project at the same time look incompetent. Sometime . . . ask your buddy at Harley-Davidson: 1) How much was the budget for the XR1200R . . $$$ and time. 2) What was the ACTUAL cost? 3) Was the project schedule met? 4) How do you feel about Buell bringing in a project well ahead of schedule and under budget and exceeding the design metrics. 5) Does the fact that you told them what they were trying was "impossible" influence your opinion? Honesty ain;t in fat supply at Juneau right now . . . but see how they answer. Be sure to remind them that you will be fact checking the answers.

there were a number of them begin tested and the project was essentially complete that was my understanding also but i didnt want to get quoted on that when i wasnt 100% on my facts. that was supposed to be basically what the production version was to have been. ooooh, and it out ran that stuff a poor poor buell just cant do... |

Court has this correct as far as I can tell. It would have been very cool. Even the folks at Buell though it was cool and they can be blase about some new models. |

I agree, it would have been my next bike if I didn't pick up my CR for a smokin' deal. On another note, let's stop bad mouthing HD and give them credit for the projects they did agree to fund for Buell. Life is to short to be so bitter. There's a lot of negative posts lately. There are a lot of new members on BWB, it would be nice if they were welcomed by positive memories, not bitter vendettas. Quit dragging the rest of us through the mud with you. You know who you are, grow up! |

I had just got done talking to my friend about this bike. He said he had seen it twice last week down in Mukwonago where he works. Kinda find it strange if they were still out riding it around. |

Spank, I'd find it strange if some of the Elves _weren't_ taking them out for a joy ride. If you were 30 days and a wakeup from losing your job, and that bike was sitting in the bay with the keys in the ignition what would you do? Yeah, the bike isn't supposed to be seen, policy, procedure, blah blah blah. Whadda they gonna do, fire you? |

It would be a shame if one of the Elves left it parked somewhere and it got stolen, wouldn't it? |

XR1200R was a joke as we all know, build quality sucked, doubled it's budget, and flopped in the dealers show rooms. |

I thought I read something about Harley going in with someone to put dirt bikes in their showrooms, and on Sunday driving past the local dealer I saw 2 dirtbikes in the showroom window. Drop Buell to go into dirtbikes!? What the hell is that? They were closed and I haven't been past yet this week, but may go in and get a feel for this addition to their showroom. |

When I first saw a picture of the XR1200, I thought for sure I'd be buying one. Upon seeing the first one in person, I completely lost interest as the bike was huge, top heavy and weighed a ton (well, OK, maybe a little less than a ton.....). I think at some point I will build my own from an early '90's solid mount 883 Sporty with a 1200cc piston kit. Will save about a hundred pounds in weight and about $4000 in the process and be a much better all around bike for my purposes. |

A fully adjustable XR1200 is a step in the right direction... Which screw do I turn to take 170 pounds off it? And what other one to take $4000 off it? That'll make it almost as good as my 05 XB9SX (aside from the fact that it is still uglier and handles worse) |
