2007 XB9SX, 14,950 miles I took my bike to the local dealer to get the rear rocker cover leak fixed under warranty. Six days later they tell me that after the repairs were complete the push rod bent during start up due to the lifter bleeding down and not pumping up fast enough. Has anyone ever heard of this? The only thing there replacing is the push rod. Thanks |

Huh? Do they mean "push rod bent due to putting the rocker box cover back on too quickly so that lifters could not bleed down"? I don't know based on actual experience, but if it were my bike, I'd be worried about the involved cam, cam bushing, lifter, rocker, and valve. |

Sounds to me like they didn't have both valves closed when taking the bike apart and putting it back together. (to unload the pushrods) I've never had this problem and have done about 5 rocker box repairs. |

Thanks for all the responses on my post. I went to the dealer today to get more details on why the push rod bent. They first tried to tell me it was an as found condition and I nearly went through the roof! I then reminded them that I rode the bike in and on the next day when I call to get an update they said the mechanic just finished test riding it and he was waiting for it to cool down to begin work! Bottom line I couldn’t get them to admit it was their fault, there calling it as found and calming it under warranty so they don’t haft to eat it. They’ve had it 9 days and counting. |
