...what is the actual, correct mileage for the initial service...???...

...the dealer I picked my bike up from told me the "600" mile service interval was incorrect, and that 1000 miles was the correct interval for the first service...

...comming here, it seems like the consensus is that 620 miles is the right number...

...another issue is the red plastic battery terminal shroud/guard thing on the subframe...the dealer I got my Buell from pretty much tore that thing off and rerouted the battery cables when the rear seat proved difficult to re install...

...the aluminum lip or edge was cutting the positive wire before they re routed it to where it did not interfere with the engagement of the seat, but the red thing would not fit back onto the sub frame with the wire in the new location...

...they just tossed it out, but I save it in case it was actually nessesary...I am sure they are unhappy that I was there to witness the operation...

...after all that, the rear seat is still very difficult to re install...the lip is reluctant to engage...

...if these are the only issues I encounter, I will count myself as very fortunate...

...one thing I am a bit concerned aboot is the front brake...I always had me doubts aboot it, and it does have a slight "click" to it under certain conditions, namely moderately hard braking...

...it is not pulsing, but makes a slight "clicking" feel some times...

...anyone else note this...???...methinks I am goona fry these brakes in short order if I doona excersize much caution and restraint...

Service intervals are listed in your owners manual. First service is 620 miles.

...I noted that, but the guys at Dean's told me this was wrong...

I don't know about the "clicking brakes" but they are designed to slow down (and stop)you from some very high speeds repeatedly.

The first service is at 620 miles or 1,000 Kilometers - that is probably where your dealer is getting confused.

Although it does sound like you may want to find another dealership to take care of her ...

I shimmed the front screws attaching the rear seat "lip" with a couple of washers. Made a big difference in ease of remove/replace, especially with soft sadddlebag straps under it.

km, miles, just a little different. Don't know if your OM was updated but the service intervals had the conversion incorrect b/t the km and miles. The km intervals were correct, somebody slipped up when they converted over to miles for the higher intervals.

When were we supposed to all go metric?????

Somewhere around 1979 as I recall.

I am all metric, I can't stand Imperial units! Nothing worse than finding out your 5/64 socket doesn't fit, now you need to guess the next size. Oh, a 5mm didn't fit? Try the 6mm. But thats for another thread....

Come see us in Frederick : )

As noted, 620 miles / 1000 KM is your first service.

Clicking in the front brake, if its what I think it is, is just the rotor slots/holes going through the pads. I have slotted rotors on one of my cars, and they do the same thing. More a sound than a feel, and you hear it more the harder you grab the brakes because the pads are pressing on the holes harder.

The plastic thingy is a PITA. I had to notch mine on my CR when I added my heated gear pigtail...but it keeps you from welding with your tools in case they hit the frame and the terminal at the same time LOL. It's $3.55, I'd have to order one, Y1015.1AM.

The passenger seat is a PITA to install. Period. I'm going to try Kevin's washer-shim idea to see how my bike likes it...

...I may do that,Ratbuell...how should I set up something...???...

...the dealer that sold me the bike would not be the guys working on it...

...I was pretty much decided on Old Glory Harley in Laural, as they seemed interested in working on the Buell, but I don't think they will have your passion for it...
