i am cleaning out all the oil ways/tank on my x1 due to an oil pump gear/crank failure is it possible to completely strip the lifters to make sure there are no metal bits in there ?, no mention of it in the manual. |

Yes. There is a single circlip on top. Keep a hand over it so pieces don't go flying. Check the body and piston for scoring, pitting, or chipped chrome. If they have more than 15-20,000 miles I'd just replace them. |

Thanks Rick_a, i will take a look later and give them a good clean. Next question, do you know the part numbers just in case i need to replace them ? (I'll have to get a parts manual !!) I think a parts list can be found in one of the pdf files on the fuell pages of buell.com but i cant find it without downloading all the pdf files. my slow internet connection prevents it. |

Any thoughts on aftermarket lifters like Jim's Hyrdosolids? |

aftermarket lifters, what are the benefits ? i am already spending too much on the x1, at $12 each i will stick with oem lifters for now and maybe upgrade to aftermarket ones in the future |
