I’m pretty sure most of you choked on your own spit when you found out how much an oil filter costs at the local HD dealer. Mine wanted 25 bucks and this is without the happy ending. As most of you know, the hiflo flitro HF564 can be used but finding it online is almost impossible. This place http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/prodView.as p?idProduct=7770 sells a two pack for 20 bucks which isn’t bad but when you factor in shipping, the cost is about 15 bucks a piece. Much cheaper than the dealers but still pretty high for an oil filter. The same site also sells an aprilia factory oil filter but at 20 bucks plus shipping, the total is almost 30 bucks. If you noticed, the part number for the factory oil filter is AP0956745. A quick search of the aprilia part number AP0956745 which cross-references the hiflo HF564 brought me to the site below: http://www.apriliaparts.co.uk/?section=shop&produc t_section=spares&filter=1000cc If you do a search using the part number, you’ll find that you can buy an aprilia factory filter for only 6.40 a piece. It shows 7.37 on the screen but when added into the cart, it comes up as 6.40. Not sure how that works but it’s cheaper so I’m not complaining. The only downside is that shipping is 12.37 but the more you order, the cheaper your per unit cost is. I got it with two other people and we order 12 filters for 90 bucks which comes out to about 7.50 per filter shipped. Keep in mind that this is also the factory aprilia filter going for 20 bucks elsewhere, not the cheaper hiflo ones. | ||

Great! AF1 is about 20 minutes from my home. More than once I've thought about talking to them about the idea of making a serious effort to support 1125's. They are a great bunch of guys, and they have a fantastic tuner on staff. | ||

well I priced a genuine 1125R oil filter from my local dealer here in the UK and even after discount I was looking at £18 sterling so count yourselves lucky those of you who live in the USA, meanwhile I am in contact with Rotax direct to see if I can get hold of a boat load of filters cheap, failing that I will be talking to an Aprilla dealer | ||

Dose anyone know the proper o-ring needed for these? I don't believe these filters come with the rubber gasket? | ||

Ebay is a good source for the HiFlo's. Now one of the biggest parts distributors in the states is Tucker Rocky. They stock these filters for $9.67 to the consumer. The only thing is we cant buy direct. Usually a local dealer that sells CanAm Spyder's or the top Japannese bikes (Honda, Kawi's Yamaha, Suzuki) in your area has an account with Tucker Rocky and can order for you. This is what I did and the dealer I deal with here in California is Temecula Motorsports and offered will call to skip freight charges I bought two for 20 bucks. The Bunna O-rings I got at an industrial rubber company for nothing. I would think maybe a hardware store can direct you where to find its good to have the sample O-ring to match up while you are looking for a supplier. | ||

If they deem that was the cause then the filter company needs to cough up the dough for it to be fixed. I sell Wix filters and they back up their filters with a warranty if it was deemed the filter was the cause. So yes it could void the warranty on the engine if Harley has the proof that it was a filter failure. | ||

No. I won't go into the FTC regs on this, but a manufacturer cannot deny you warranty coverage unless they can prove that a failure was caused by an aftermarket part. There are some exceptions -- but they are not relevant here. | ||

Parts unlimited sells a filter for the 1125 also. $9.95 and can order them from most M/C shops. Does not include the $5 o ring | ||

I would think maybe a hardware store can direct you where to find its good to have the sample O-ring to match up while you are looking for a supplier. aRE THERE specs for the O-ring so I can make phone calls and not have to drag an O-ring around town and try to match up? | ||

Measuring O Rings can be tricky. The section of the O ring is easy with a vernier caliper. Don't use to much pressure so as to flatten the rubber. Best to measure a new one as old ones are usually a bit out of shape. This will be a metric O ring. The diameter will be best measured by referencing the housing the O ring lives in. The inside diameter here will be the one you need. These will be a Duro 30 nitrile rubber. Great info on the filter and yes in Australia they are priced like gold also. Cheers Romano. | ||

I figured getting a measurement on something so thing and flimsy would be tricky. Oh well, there are only a couple shops in town that would stock those things anyway. Just an update on these Aprilia filters. I got them a while back and they do come standard with the rubber o rings where as the hiflo ones do not. You save the hassle of having to buy the rings separately or having to reuse the old rings. I did get charge an international fee of $1.50 but hell, it’s still way cheaper than anything I can find locally..   |
