Jramsey: I saw your edit and re-checked my math, on my original drawing I had the offset of the holes wrong. Fixed it, thanks! rt |

RT, Mathematically the max a 1.00 hole can be offset in a 1.375 Dia is .1875 and not break out. 1.375 minus 1.000 = .375 .375 divided by 2 =.1875 |

Absolutely right, Jramsey! I came up with my number by adding the thickness of the material at the thinnest and thickest spots on the "wall" and then dividing by 2. Didn't occur to me to check it for reality! OK, here's what I hope will be the final version of the drawing. I'm going to delete the other two to avoid confusion.

Tom and Jim, I really appreciate all your help on this one. Now I can go to the machine shop to see about making a set for my M2. Thanks again! Dave |

Damn, I forgot to add text. Dave, I got these from American Sport Bike a couple of years ago and never used them. They will not fit a S2 but I knew that they would have to be machined when I got them. If you can use them as a template for what you are doing I can send them to you. It looks like you have everything you need already. Frank |

Early on "i" used the STIFFENER BUSHINGS to ride two with the wife because the isolators(PN 47564-86B) from the soft tail plate form would not hold up ... When riding solo "i" found they caused cracks in my TAIL SECTION PN 59843-97YYA ... |

Dave, pm replied. I have not installed the mikuni yet. I do have plans for it. It will be going on the S1W motor which will be going in a S2 frame. |

F_skinner Those are the ones I have. American Sport Bike used to have them and they were made by Bartels. The Pingle ones look like the same shape too. I don't mind the vibes but my forks also have internals from Traxxion Dynamics. I'm not concerned about comfort, just the best possible handling. No cracks or other issues for me. |

I've been using the Bartels stiffeners for seven years now. The tail light/bracket would brake every now and then...a custom set-up fixed that permanently. The vibes aren't too bad. It takes about an extra 500-1000 RPM to hit the smooth spot...and the bike is still very smooth at high rpm. Best of all the engine can be felt as well as heard...which I really like...and feels much more solid...instead of that vague rear end feel. |
