I have raced there for the last 3 years. Checkout landracing.com also www.ecta-lsr.com and join the ECTA yahoo group. You can download the bike rules off the ECTA site. Read them before you start building. If you are on facebook, I have a bunch of pictures and stuff on my "bailey's speed shop" page.

It is fun and addicting. Once you go, you will go back and want to go faster. If you are going to run a dragbike, make sure it has a good suspension and good brakes. The bumps there can be serious.

Let me know if you have any questions I can help out with.

Jeff

186, I am working daily on the 160/S2. Getting the motor in there is a real challenge. Right now I am building a new top front engine mount to work with the prostock heads.

XXX, the rules are pretty straight forward. Read the rule book and make your bike legal, but the real thing you need to do is download the inspector check sheet and make sure you meet it 100%. That's really all they check. I just have one stabilizer.

I am not really a suspension guy, but I have my bike sprung stiff and loosly damped. Don't know if that is good or bad, but it works ok. There are a couple serious bumps that if you hit them at speed jar you pretty good. You can drive around them if you remember where they are.

I would guess your 91 is making 110 to 115 at the rear wheel. I would guess that would put you around 155-160 assuming everything is tuned well.

For gearing, I think of it as a 1 mile drag race. Your acceleration through the low gears really can change your mph. You are accelerating through the whole mile. As compared to Bonneville, where you don't care at all about accelerating quickly.

I had my bike geared to go 175 at 6700 and ran 35/56 primary and 22/45 secondary gearing.

application/octet-streama
Motorcycle Inspection Sheet.doc (26.6 k)

I can't find it on their site now, but here is one I downloaded a couple years ago. I don't know for sure that it is still current, but is a good start.
