So there have been murmurings of a new flash for 08 1125s...is this the case? Does anyone know the ECM Spy ID for the newest flash and the release date? ac |

Any ideas what the update is for? Will there be more updates in the future, or is this just the remnants of the elves work? ac |

Here's a big question: Do you think that the crop of the most current flashes might deliver ridability & BIG POWER (as in O.S.B performance flash but obviously within the EPA's restrictions)? It seemed to me (from reading riders impressions) the older re-flashes addressed ridability issues but might have actually lost Hp. Recently I've been reading how riders are noticing improved ridability (smoothness etc) but ALSO an increase in power, eagerness to rev etc. Do you think these new flashes deliver more power... or rather; restore the power of the original flash (or more) WITH solving the early ridability issues? EDIT: I made this a new thread topic - I really want to get some of the senior badwebbers impressions on this one. Maybe the elves final gift to the 1125 community is a near perfect flash... how do you know if your bike has the latest flash? I picked mine up the day after the closing of Buell was announced. Has there been updates since then? |

T_man, my feelings about the upgrade from 131 to 142 (09R variety) aren't objectively proven, unless you count my butt dyno which is the one I use for most of my measurements ... I thought 131 was strong, but it terms of pulling hard (and lifting the front almost too easily)the 142 is noticeably better, and yes, smoother. I'd never had a pre-131 version, so can't compare back from there. Rocket, your dealer can tell you what's on your bike. I bought mine right after the announcement, but the newest '142' for the 09R (and maybe the equivalent others?) had a F/W date of 09-30-09, meaning they are likely not updated to that one unless you've asked it to be done. Unless of course you have a dealer that is really on top of things - It's possible. Mike (Message edited by milleniumx1 on November 12, 2009) |

I just updated my 08 to the 062 from the 052 and was surprised that it felt stronger and smoother. I wasn't unhappy with the 05 but this latest flash does seem stronger. The tech said that there are 8 changes but only would talk about the run time on the fan being shortened to about 1 min. instead of 4 min.this was to help not drain the battery. The AFV's reset to 100 and have stayed there for 60 miles so far with my FMF pipe. We will see, but I like the new flash. Mike (Message edited by highlander51 on November 12, 2009) |

Hmm, service manager says it's not showing up on HD-net. He says that for me to get it, it will cost me $$ but didn't say how much. |

Guys if was like the previous flash, the only way to find it is to hook the bike up to the digital tech and then it will show up. If I get a chance tomorrow I'll hook mine up the the digital tech and check and see what I find. |

Mike, When did you go to the 062? I just got my bike out of Simi Valley two or three weeks ago for my leaking clutch and I asked them to check for a new flash. They hooked it up to Digital-Tech right in front of me and said there were no new updates. |

And the next question is, is this update free or not? |

For any new flash updates we might consider, and for us riders out here in no mans land without a dealer now, could an ECM be disconnected, taken off the bike, and sent to a dealer who could perform a reflash? Next nearest dealer I would trust is 500 miles away. Please, accurate answers. It does seem though that some "tuners" offer this as a "pay for" custom service. If done by a Buell dealer and not a recall, maybe a small charge, say 1/2 hour labor charge plus shipping back to you. I am still running on an 03Z flash and my bike is running quite well but I suppose it could be better.......maybe. Utah Bob |

The bike (the WHOLE bike) needs to be hooked to Digital Tech for a flash to be done. ECMs are VIN coded, so no, yours can't get plugged into a dealer bike to get flashed. Well....it *could*, but then your bike wouldn't run with it because it'd have been reassigned to the shop bike's VIN. |

062 is there, I had my bike flashed yesterday. They just need to update their machine. I haven't paid for the last two flash updates. |

I just had my 09 1125R reflashed this morning. They charged me an hour of labor because nothing was wrong with the bike and there was no recall notice about it. |

"Nothing wrong"? You couldn't come up with "surging" or maybe just trip the CEL with the noid on the way to the dealer? ac |

Ratbuell, that just does not seem to make sense. The ECM may or may not have the VIN # in its memory but there does not seem to be any other way for Digital tech to read anything else. If it is "VIN coded" they would have that with the ECM in hand in its memory. What if you just gave the VIN to the dealer you would be dealing with to program into DT. It would seem to be case closed to proceed with the download of the new flash. Where am I going wrong. Thanks much for your input though but is this an "accurate answer". No disrespect intended. I think they would need the bike for the wiring harness. I do not know if the tuning plug goes STRAIGHT to the ECM. I think the ECM needs separate power. There may/may not exist a separate setup for dealing directly with ECMs at the dealers. ac |

In the beginning in 2008, the first few trys at re-flashing were tempermental because of low battery voltages and was altered with an additional power source along with the Digital tech unit. Though you may be correct AVC8130. It may also be possible when you disconnect the harness to plug into DT the bike is now out of the link. Still wondering, and why can Easyrider or one of the others tuners do it in house? "or Send me the ECM and I reprogram it for you", Easyrider, from another post recently. Any former or current Buell electronic techs. out there care to respond? |

Ok, just trying to make this clear for me. I currently have the 05 flash. So, there's a new on with 06 now? Also, does anyone know if HCHD has it? |

Took my '08 in to the dealer to get the "062" flash today. I was immediately greeted by an employee who saw the bike outside and thought I had a '10 model (I put the 2010 graphics on last week...sorry if I gave you a cardiac Bud!). Anyway...no charge for the flash and it does seem a bit smoother and might even have a bit more zip. Couldn't really tell though, as almost all of the riding from the dealer to my place was freeway with lots of traffic. Just a quick question: Where exactly is the harness/plug that they plug their system into on the bike? Just wondering what if any bodywork needs to come off to access it. |

It might not be an answer, or at least an accurate one ... But I have a plug on my 09R tucked up under the left pod, accessible without removing the pod and visible if you get down at bike level and admire the V-Twin. Could that be the ECM plug? I was thinking 'yes' since mine wasn't properly seated (it's a push-in holder) when it came back from its ECM flash. Mike |

Yeah...that's what I thought too. I had the radiator pods off to apply those new graphics (HIGHLY recommended by the way...it's like putting a decal on a basketball!) and thought I had tucked that connector up and out of the way. After the flash today, I did happen to notice that it was more visible than before. |

All the part numbers are here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/511607.html Take the list to your dealer and order them there. Be warned though...these part numbers are goofy and a bit hard to figure out. Get the correct ones for your bike color. |
