It's been fine for the most part, but as the weather continues to get cooler, it's getting more and more like riding on a buckboard wagon with one hardass seat. I started by setting it to the specs last year, it was entirely too stiff, even for agressive riding. I backed off the preload, front and rear. I softened the compression and rebound settings maybe 1/2 turn more than recommended. It was pretty much fine last year. Most of this summer, it was being repaired (clutch leaks) so I didn't get a lot of miles in. I'm trying to make up for it now, but the suspension is getting, I dunno, slower to respond? Riding over expansion joints is downright entertaining now with all the action. I'd prefer a little less. I backed the rebound and compression out another 1/2 turn, but it's still not there yet. One thing that concerned me was, coming to a hard stop and then the forks uncompress, there are some very hard clunks now. I've been told it's the front rotor, but I'm starting to think it's not that. Sure, the rotor "floats" on the wheel, but this is beyond a light clunk now. Trying to actually move the rotor doesn't really get any movement. I can make it clunk sometimes even sitting still, just squeeze the brake lever and push forward and try to compress the front forks. It either does a hard click, or sometimes a clunk and it's usually in a pair. Once going down and another coming back up. Any suggestions? One other thing I noticed, riding at night, the headlight beam on the ground NEVER stops jittering, even on a smooth road. I will see if the adjustments I made today help any. |

Others have had a noise in the front end, including me. Search "front end clunk". I think it is a normal noise for these bikes. |

Dean, mine clunks too. Took it in, they called Buell and told me it was normal. Hadn't had any problems and it's still there. No biggie for me. |

Clunk is normal. You can check the neck bearings (as per jdugger) if you feel the need, but lifting the front and trying to wiggle the wheel around should let you know if the bearing is bad. |
