What did you do with the fuel vent hose. I have a Cr and want to ditch the rear pegs because after 112 mile ride Sunday my wife said she won't ride on it anymore. | ||

Something to think about before you take them off. I had the misfortune of laying down my 2 week old 1125r last week and the only parts that got scraped up was my right pod, mirror and passenger peg. I wonder if i had taken the back pegs off if there would have been damage to the tail section. | ||

that's right, but my subframe broke because of the pressure from the passenger pegs. i think, the bike would look even worse w/o them. so, you're right. pod is scraped, clutch cover and pegs too, and subframe broken from frame on mounts. but that's why i got it for 2000 bucks with only 800 miles on it.... great. | ||

i think, the bike would look even worse w/o them. The bike looks MUCH better without the pegs and brackets. | ||

Go for it man... I don't use 'em either and I popped mine off. All I did was buy some good fuel line and I ran the fuel vent back to the ORIGINAL location. Near the front of the clutch cover with the rest of the madness going on there. Works fine. Looks fine. | ||

Buell said they made them easy to remove on purpose "just 2 bolts each"...oh yeah, and that pesky hose. Let's not talk about the pesky hose in the BOB. ac | ||

I took them off my CR. On the left side (hose side), I reinstalled the bolts by themselves and painted them with texture black touchup paint, along with the square mounting bosses (on both sides). I ziptied the overflow hose to the bolts, and shortened it so it sticks out just behind the rearward bolt. It was dripping on the swingarm when it did vent fuel, so I used some hose stock in the garage and put a 90 on the end, extending it out away from centerline so it doesn't drip on the swingarm anymore. I'll get pics and post 'em if you're interested. Same at my house, though. If the wife is on the back, we've got the Uly. If she's feeling adventurous, there's the S2  But she has her own M2L she needs to ride, so I try and keep her off the backseat as much as I can! | ||

OMG. You had the balls to put your wife on the back of your CR??? Wow. As far as my wife and I are concerned, there are no passenger accomodations on the CR. I keep an old cushy Yamaha Venture around for those rare occasions when I can coerce her to go for a ride with me. Divorce proceedings would be imminent if I put her on the back of the CR. Since I got it with her blessing (she's a wonderful woman), there is no way I would subject her to the pain and agony that the pillion pad/pegs would inflict - and the abuse that would subsequently come my way... | ||

Well It was her Idea, I said we should take the ZX 14 or triumph but she wanted to ride on the Buell. | ||

I have had my g/f on the back of the Buell. She said it wasn't the best, but it was fine. She is the BEST passenger in the world. She rides herself so she understands when shifting and braking occur and how to brace herself with the air box cover instead of crunching me. She also knows exactly how to lean. Still, the passenger pegs on the CR will have a short lifespan. If she wants to 2-up we will have to do it on her R. ac | ||

I got so tired of seeing this everytime I got on the bike.  Tools and equipment needed. T30 Torx Bit, The one that is in the Buell tool bag supplied with the bike will work fine. Pair of Pliers about 4 feet of 5/36 ID fuel tubbing A pair of wire cutters Black zip ties 1. Remove the seat. Remove the 2 screws under each corner of the seat and slide backwards. 2. Remove the hose clamp from the backside of the left passenger peg. I had already done this prior to this write up. 3. Pull the fuel over flow line out from under the brackets. 4. Remover the hard line from the soft line by the airbox cover. 5. Cut the hard line about 1 inch from the end where it attached to the soft line. Use this piece to splice your 2 soft line together. Route the new line under the mid brace and down through the hole next to the rear brake resevoir  6. Route the new line along the same path as the hard brake line from the resevoir to the master cylinder   Be sure to route it above the negative battery wire, where it attaches to the frame.  6. Remove the right side heel guard. 7. Continue routing the line next to the master cylinder and down to the bottom of the brake bracket.   8. Cut the other end off of your hard line that was removed and rout it like so.   9. Use the zip ties to secure the line. Hope this helps those who need some extra info. Any questions, please ask! I cut the final section off the hose and then extended it to the bottom of the rear licence plate and positioned it so that the drips didn't get on the rear tyre or belt | ||

I ran mine back to where it was originally. I found the shorter the tubing, the less it dribbled. YRMV  | ||

It may sound crazy but I ordered the carbon canister which goes under the seat. Ill let you how good it works when it comes in. | ||

It is also supposed to help with the smell of gas after you get done riding and no more drip. | ||

The 08's had the line on the right side, in front of the clutch cover where it would drip a few drops harmlessly on the side of the muffler and evaporate. I think I'm gonna put mine back in the original spot too. | ||

People freaked out when they saw the vent line dripping on the exhaust. Never worried me, but the re-route was one part of a three part recall. I had no rear pegs when I got the recall done, so my tech routed it down the right side and tied it to the rear brake m/c. It seemed to drip more, so I shortened it with good results, running down the front-right side under the pod. I did place mine so it wouldn't drip on the pipe. Zack |
