Eulysses, Gowindward (Loren) can make it any shape and with any contour you like. He made my S2T seat from a corbin pan and made it to my specifications. I would not had given this a second thought until I sat on Loren's S3T with a seat he made. I got to tell you I was sold right then. I really liked the Buell XB low gel seat but I think the key to Loren's seats is the memory foam and the gel. I am not sure what Loren uses for the seats but he can tell you. Frank |

If I am reading this correct, Byrdock got a new tall seat, and the seams run side to side (and don't pass under your legs). and Eulysses bought one, and it has seams running front to rear? are these the same seats, only Eulysses got an old style cover? how can I order the tall seat, but be sure I am getting one that does not have the seams running front to rear? |

I just ordered and received the tall seat for my '08, seams run side to side. Part number N0025.1AKAYW. Feels much thicker and a bit wider toward front of seat, and reduces tendency to slide forward on it. |

Nvr2old...what did you pay for the N0025.1AKAYW? Where was it from? My new tall seat was $99 from Buell Parts and coded N0025.1AKAYCE. (Message edited by Eulysses on October 28, 2009) |

N0025.1AKAYW is the black seat. It was $88.80 from Chicago HD, which for me is a local dealer. Anyway that's my excuse for not ordering from a Badweb sponsor.I ordered N0025.1AKAYW, the number shown on Buell's website. However, email from Chicago HD stated "N0025.1AKAYW supercedes to N0025.1AKAFW price has not changed" This kinda confused me, I've never seen the number N0025.1AKAFW, but I guess it means the YW superseded the FW? |

I just ordered N0025.1AKAYW, which was superseded to N0025.1AKFYW. In fact I said "I want the same seat Dean just bought" (I have been buying from the same dealer for some time now). |

Sooo...the black seat's seams are across the seat and the orange is the long ways. Hmmmm. At 88 bucks maybe I need a black one too. Actually an amazing price for a seat. |

Do the 'tall' seats fit perfectly, and look good on the XT's? Do they install the same as XT seats, with the rear lock? Do they leave the same room under the seat for a Stow-N-Go bag, etc.? Are they in fact more comfortable on long days? What are the drawbacks, if any, other than the height for shorter folks? I guess the ergos with the handlebars and windshield will change. Any experiences? Thanks. Mike (Message edited by buellerxt on October 29, 2009) |

Mike, the seats all used the same seat pan, so the under seat room will be the same and install the same. If you can handle the reach to the ground it would sure be worth giving it a try. The foam on the tall is a bit softer, which I IMHO comes from the benefit of the thickness. The tall seats of the '06 bikes do have a seam running fore & aft on the top edge of the riders seat. That can "wear" on your thigh after a long day. It's not so much having a seam, but the type of seam used. From what others are saying that has been corrected if you ordered a new one from a dealer. |

IF, you order a black one...otherwise orange seats are seamed the long way...and I just got in from a ride on mine. I worried the seams for while and no sweat. Definitely cushier than my short seat (09). Ride was only an hour...never even noticed my butt. Usually would. I am thinking it is THE long trip seat. I sit about 1.5" higher...feels good. |

Ths. Gowindward. Much appreciated. Eulysses, Does the 'tall' seat make you have to lean forward more? What is your inseam? I am 6'1" with a 33/34 inseam. I'm wondering if I need bar rises, even before the 'tall'. Ths. Mike |

Buellerxt...you are same size as me...all legs. I wanted bar risers (like Rox) when in the low seat and may still but I kinda like the lean in right now with the taller seat. Time/miles will tell... |

Can any of you guys with the "new" Tall seat without the old-style seams and cover post a couple pics? I'm somewhat confused since the Buell website shows a 2006 stocker... |

Thanks Dean, that helps. That new Tall looks pretty nice. I may be assuming but it appears to taper a bit more to the front than the '06 Tall, sort of like the '07-up Stocker. Might have to add one to my collection of seats. My only gripe with the '06 is how soft it is, I wonder whether the new Tall is as firm as the Post-07 seats... |

Dean, "it appears to taper a bit more to the front than the '06" Could be, it does taper a bit less than the '08 stock seat. Still easy to slide up when you want to. I prefer getting up to the air box in a "ready" position when in heavy traffic, especially when I spot a cell phone. "My only gripe with the '06 is how soft it is" I don't find the new tall seat too soft. I don't sink immediately down to the pan, like on my Electraglide. But since the seat padding is thicker than the stock, you experience a sensation of buoyancy. My big gripe with the '08 stock seat was that I was continually sliding forward. I did a 350 mile ride on the new seat last week and after a short while I realized I wasn't even thinking about the seat anymore and not sliding forward and crushing stuff. And that's a good thing! |

Thanks Nvr2old. That picture comparison was helpful. Quote(Eulysses):you are same size as me...all legs. Eulysses, that is EXACTLY what I am thinking and doing! I plan to let time and miles help me decide and see how I adjust. The Rox seem like great risers but 2" is a lot. I've never used risers and wonder how they'll change the feel/handling. Precision makes a 1" that can't be moved forward or back. I'll get the tall seat and wait on the riser decision. Please let me know how it all works out for you. Ths. Mike |

Problem is they just went "backorder" with HD, and no notes on when (or if) they will become available again. |

Hey guys, I'm a little concerned about the part number for the 'TALL' seat and since I just ordered it, on 'back order' I'd appreciate any info. The seat I ordered is N0025.1AKFYW. Is that correct? The number I got from the Buell site is N0025.1AKAYW but my dealer said it has been superceded! I saw a different last three letters above for the 'TALL' seat. Is my order correct for the 'TALL' seat? Ths. |

I see that. But I also see the last three letters 'AFW' confirmed as the new ending as well. Which is the new ending for the 'TALL' seat, FYW or AFW? Ths. |

Due to an old injury, my right knee aches after being bent over 90 degrees for 30 minutes or more. I just purchased an '09 XB12X... scooting myself all the way back in the stock seat my knee is *okay* but could be better... I'm assuming if I got the tall seat it would be bent at less of an angle? Cheers, - HJ |

Yes thats the new tall seat. F is the revision code, YW is the color code. I have heard from others that the seat is on back order, which is because people have been ordering parts like crazy since the announcement. |

When the 500000 people that ordered before you get their seats I don't got access to HD-Net, so I can't check the ETA. |

My dealer was going to call HD and find out, so he told me "call back in 1 week". (must take a long time to call HD) Your numbers match mine. If I hear any dates I will post it here. |

For those of you thinking might want a high seat for your Uly: For get about it! Both part numbers now supersede each other (in a loop), until the dealer reads the comment field where the part is marked "obsolete" by our friends at HD. I figure there is some 2006 Ulys out there, still under warranty until 2013! So much for support for 7 years. Unless they are coming out with a new part number? (don't count on it.) |
